What's your criteria of success?

I guess everyone has a different measure or gauge of what success look like for you.

It's very subjective depending how you look at things.

Have I accomplished all of my aims and purposes that I had as a young man? No, but on the other hand, I wasn't all that serious about realizing my aims and purposes, nor did I have any "must" aims and purposes which left me devastated because I didn't achieve them.

Am I in a good place now? Pretty good. Not bad.

Am I financially secure? Yes.

Do I have people in my life who care about me? A couple.

Am I healthy for my age? Am I happy? Slightly above average as a guess, but not more than that.

Yes. Extremely successful.

I have two beautiful well adjusted children who love me and try their best. I have a beautiful wife who is a perfect mother. If something comes up we can afford to fix it, we own our home, cars etc. I've trained myself to a point where I can take part in the sports I choose to play at a high amateur level even at the age of 45. My beard is long.

The wheels will fall off and everything dies but right now I'm drinking a coffee, smoking a pipe and listening to the birds. I'm about to go continue working on our orchard, burning branches I have taken off, it should last a few generations.

I can't think of much that would make my life better and how could that be anything but extreme success.

The next step up in my line of work is handle/manage people. I've declined that position 2x in 2 different companies. I just want to draw. I'm happier that way.

Yes, but it doesn't mean it can't change at a drop of a hat. My kids are all still young so we don't know what their lift will bring and if they will struggle at all. My business is doing great, but certain triggers in the economy can change that. Health is good, but that can always change.
