Ryuta once remarked that he trained with Tatsuya Kawajiri and Hayato Sakurai because the 3 of them are from the Ibaraki prefecture, and they all grew up as fans of Higo "Mach Hayato" Shigehisashi so they're good teammates.

From what I remember from that interview, Hayato was mentioned a few times since he has the same name as Ryuta but was already a bigger star out of Japan, and they never alluded to them being brothers.

I could obviously be wrong, but that just sounds weird to me

I have stumbled upon that wiki a few times while looking stuff up, but I guess I thought it was about some old game or something because of the fighter's sprites at the top, so I never really relied on it... guess I was missing out.

A website that is a pretty deep well of knowledge when it comes to Japanese pro-wrestlers/MMA fighters, is TVTropes.
The interface can take a bit of time to warm up to, it's not as intuitive as regular wikis IMHO... and the website's specific "slang" can be a sort of barrier but YMMV.

I was a bit surprised to be that Paul "Don't Fear Me, Fear The Consequences" Buentello and his brother Javier "The Executioner" Buentello weren't listed



Surprised in the sense that many much more obscure fighters than Paul got it.
Now, Javier, he
was a bust, 0-4 in MMA (all 4 fights in 1997/1998) and his only big name opponent was Frank Trigg, in what would be Trigg's MMA debut tournament (he fought and beat 3 guys on his first night).

(Javier also lost a kickboxing bout a few years later in 2006, but who cares)
