Elections Should the US election be decided by electoral votes or popular votes?

Should the election be decided by electoral votes or popular votes?

youre the one crying about ec not being "fair", so you tell me?

I've already explained. With EC, a Dem's vote in Alabama and a wingnut's vote in California are worthless, with a popular vote their vote would still matter.

You dispute that? I guess you're not counting people who felt an emotional connection to Trump?

People voted Biden in hopes of M4A, student loan relief, marijuana reform, and transparency.

They received a gag order on the border crisis, kids locked in cages, and a return to bombing Syria.

Something tells me the progressives who spent years complaining about Trump locking kids in cages, are not happy with the improvement Biden has brought their lives.

Our relationships with NK, China, Russia have all deteriorated because no one takes Biden seriously. He's been a C level politician his whole life. The only reason he's the president, is because he's the closest thing to a sane white man the Democrats could find in their party.

People voted for Biden for a lot of different reasons, including just that he wasn't comically inept and corrupt like his opponent. By any measure, he's been a huge success so far (only been a couple of months, but we've already seen massive improvements). I agree that dictators don't like him as much as they liked Trump, for the obvious reason that he's not going to bend over for them.

nobody should pay attention to one of the states? thats a weird thing to say...
Didn't say anything about "should". They don't. And that's because of the ec. A few states are in play every election, and it ain't WY or the Dakotas.

Interestingly, on that subject, in 2020 Nebraska was potentially critical had the election been close. They split ec votes, and that 1 swing vote could have changed fortunes given the other states that were in play. Consequently, candidates spent time there in the days leading up to the vote.

In other words, the more popular vote friendly system actually puts a small, midwest state on the radar.

smaller states have equal representation in senate and are underrepresented in the house. ec is a middle ground between the 2.

they are not equality represented, but also not completely underrepresented
The people in those small states are way, way over represented, actually.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the ec if PR and DC become states. Come back and give us your take on it after a few elections with 52 states.

not true cause then entire state of wyoming will have less votes than one district in california. right now it has same amount as 3 districts.

well dc can't really be a state cause it was chosen as a "neutral capital". if pr becomes a state then sure they should get same amount of ec like any other state with their population size.

when your opinion is in a minority then its "worthless".... wow!

its a same thing when a conservative in california wants less gun laws or radical lefty wants unlimited abortion in alabama...

they dont have to stay in states that don't represent their views and values

So you can't answer a simple yes or no question. You already exposed yourself as a non-American who knows nothing about the US system of government whereas I've had to teach you things this entire thread.

I know we have weird non American trolls on this forum that love talking about American politics but you take the cake for the dumbest one.

you just mad cause you clueless about us politics and now are just projecting.

you don't understand a basic difference between unitary and federal state

More like you know two things and they are jack and shit.

so thats 2 more than you

So it's clear you're not an American and know nothing about the country or its government.

your sarcasm radar isn't working. you need to fix it

Popular vote is the most practical.

thats subjective

Smaller states are over represented. How is that equality? It's not.

it avoids tyranny of the majority....

in united states where states are sovereign jurisdictions, not administrative divisions and their powers and responsibilities are not assigned by federal government

it would make no sense then to treat entire state like some district.

Then why does almost every other federal state in the world treat individual states like administrative divisions and use the popular vote?

Democracy is so tyrannical. Oligarchy is much more fair to everyone.

Then why does almost every other federal state in the world treat individual states like administrative divisions and use the popular vote?

depends on their sovereignty/autonomy.

in us states have high levels of autonomy so it makes no sense to compare them to the rest of the world.

also us is a big country with different states having different values/needs.

whats the poiof federalism if states are treated like districts?

You can't even answer a simple yes or no question. You must be thoroughly embarrassed if you just can't answer a yes or no question. So, yes or no? Answer the question.

So you don't know of any that avoid the popular vote like the U.S.? And plenty of federal states have internal states with high autonomy. Hence your dribbling on and on about sovereignty is silly.

so thats 2 more than you

I'm glad you agree that you know jack shit about US politics.

your sarcasm radar isn't working. you need to fix it

My troll radar is working just fine.

It's the most practical, we agree.

You really don't know anything about the United States government. I doubt you've even been here or crossed state lines.

whats embarrassing is constantly deflecting cause you have no idea what you're talking about

It's the most practical, we agree.

thats an opinion based on nothing

You really don't know anything about the United States government. I doubt you've even been here or crossed state lines.

so far all you did is prove youre clueless about a country you claim to live in but pretend that you know what you're talking about...

if you're truly an american youll be prime example why popular vote is not a good thing.

basically any clueless moron has the right to vote
