Should Jeremy Stephens even be called a knockout artist?

Stephens is often hyped as a brutal KO-artist, but I'm not feeling it. If only counting fights from his UFC-stint his record shows that he's about as likely to win by decision as he is by knockout, which is pretty darn average.

What are your thoughts, Sherdog?

I wouldn't call him a knockout artist. To me a KO artist is someone who gets tons of KOs in all kinds of ways, eg. Anderson Silva. Stephens has disgusting punching power though.

He has a couple brutal knockouts, specifically his fight against RDA. Vicious KO.

Yes he can , because KO's are actually 'art' for Jeremy ,
not real , practial knockouts.

I would call him one of the hardest hitters.

Knockout artist....that term is a bit loose considering what you've brought up. But consider he can only knockout who he can depending on their skills and durability as well. If they can stop the freight train, then it's credit to them, not a minus for Stephens.

More of a brawler than a KO artist, heavy handed veteran would be more accurate .

He definitely has power, but his last knock out with his hands was Marcus Davis in 2010. He's had a few knock outs since then - all were with his feet.

He's the real hardest hitting 145er, remember?

Well when I think of jezza
I instantly think of that time he ICED Jason and made Brazil cry

So yeah he's an artist

KO artist is a distinction from a power puncher. JS is the latter.

He´s a decision machine and terribly overranked and overrated.

Who called him a knockout artist and what study did they do to determine this, or is this just something you heard from "them" or "they"?

The RDA, Marcus Davis and Rony Jason KO’s are all exceptionally brutal.
