Should JDM have been docked a point?

The mma community spent the last 3 weeks crying about the lack of consequences of blatant fouls, and everyone said the answer is to immediately start docking points even for a first foul. Then JDM commits a blatant and intentional foul at the end to Rd 1 and only gets a warning lol? Basically nothings changed when it comes to rule enforcement after all the big talk.

I think a point would have been justified, but in the end it wouldn't have mattered.
Agreed, but we’re lucky It didn’t injure Islam, imagine if Jack’s heel hit Islam’s chin and gave him a concussion? I feel like we’re falling into the same trap of letting fouls go unpunished as long as they don’t alter the fight.

Yea he probably should have been penalized. But it's a stupid rule. Upkicks should be legal when you yourself are grounded, kicking upwards (not horizontally).

Taking weapons away from fighters to defend against the crotch sniffers isn't helping.
It’s fair to say the he rule needs to change, but the fact that the rule exists impacts how islam chose to defend himself. It’s still blatant cheating.

I think this will play out like when the ice breaking competitions spooked the commission away from 12-6 elbows. They will come to their senses, forget Goes vs Coleman ever happened, and let us have grounded knees again.

I was multitasking, so I kinda petered out my attention when the timer was counting down to the end of the round, so I know this happened around the end, but can someone remind me if it happened before the bell? Cuz an upkick is bad, but if it's after the bell of a round he got dominated, that'd be extremely egregious

Conor fouled against Khabib like a gazillion times, nothing to see

No it was right before the bell. But Islam clearly was down, it’s a pretty basic rule, you can’t kick someone who’s down, and it was pretty egregious since he did it several times but luckily it only landed once. I think JDM was overwhelmed and it was a panic reaction because what he was doing wasn’t working at all.

It was just before teh end of the round but after the 10 second clickers.

Looked very much like a very frustrated Della. Going into teh 3rd, you could see actual horror & confusion in teh eyez of Jack. His heart failed a big test last night.

Same reaction Weili had. Was dying when I saw him do it.

Sure but they are just dogshit at enforcing fouls. And the more high profile the fight the less likely they are to take points. All of this is stuff they've been dumb enough to admit publicly too lol. Idk man I've been watching for like 20 years and it's been shitty officiating the entire time. Just basic competency is applauded.

It's a dumb rule but yes he should've lost a point.

If it starts affecting fights more then maybe it will force them to consider changing the rule.

The no kicking a downed opponent should only apply if you're standing. If you're on your back you should be able to kick as much as you want.
