The correct question should be, if not Islam, then who gets the title shot? Personally I think Islam deserves it even more than Gaethje. Gaethje got choked out, sat on his ass for 13 months and won 1 three round fight to earn another title shot? Bogus. IMO you shouldn’t even be considered for a title unless you’re on a winning streak, especially in a stacked division like LW. Fans put way too much emphasis on ranked wins. It’s much tougher to go on an 9, 10, 11 fight win streak than it is to get a ranked win.
