Should I wean off my Antidepressants?

You should talk to your doctor and keep working till you get the right dosage, if they aren’t willing to work with you get a second opinion. Don’t listen to morons on the internet especially on a karate forum listen to your doctor/s

Im on Lexapro and ive thought about weaning off.. I feel thirsty as all hell and just meh all day.

I took myself off Lexapro after about 2 years of use. Like others have said, it didn't make me any less sad. I just didn't care that I was depressed. After about 3 weeks of tapering down my dose I was clear of any withdraw symptom. However, my interest in pleasurable or fun activities took months and months to return to normal. I was still in zombie mode for almost a year. Could be psychosomatic or maybe it was a legitimate long term side effect......either way it wasn't worth taking in my experience.

Can't decide.

I started weaning off them without consulting my Doctor. This is the second time I've done this...it's perfectly safe...

Just can't decide if I want off them. I'm feeling real emotions again, but it's harder to love because of them.

I had been taking antidepressants for my insomnia for hte last year or so

But now im getting laid off and gonna lose my insurance so I weaned myself off them

Cant sleep for shit now, man fuck this whole god damn insurance based healthscare system

You smoke Weed? Have you tried that to help you sleep?
I used to take some back in the day because I always had trouble sleeping but when I smoked weed, it always knocked me out. And it never affected my dick.

Idk. If they’re helping, probably not. Who cares if the pharmaceutical companies are making a killing off of you? If you need them, then you need them. However, I know they are not always meant to be taken forever.

I weaned off of Prozac, Xanax and abilify when I was on them. But that’s because they didn’t really do anything for me. And that’s because I was incorrectly diagnosed. What they thought was a mental health issue was really just an electro physiological issue with my heart.

If you are convinced you don’t need them anymore, talk to your doctor about it. See what they think. And by doctor, I mean psychiatrist. Don’t let a shit for brains gp make that decision.

I'm on week three of no anti-depressants. The withdrawal has been absolutely terrible.

The less time you spend on pharmaceuticals, the better in my opinion.

Why in the fucking fuck would you not tell your physician?

Anti depressants broadly deal with symptoms not causes. I'm more of a causes kinda guy. I prefer medication as a temporary solution to gain breathing room allowing for real work to be done.

Unless the root cause is actual unbalanced brain chemistry. Not everyone with depression has trauma that can be treated by talking to someone.

I'd say that's rare. Unbalanced brain chemistry that is unresolvable that is.

Talking therapy might not be the cure, wealth, surfing, exercise, mdma etc might be. It doesn't go from talking therapy not working to a lifetime of medication.

Bruh, you gotta taper down. Going cold turkey is not smart.

Not if you’re taking Paxil, that stuff has a history of patients killing themselves

Take my advice with a grain of salt, but I'd say you're doing the right thing. The medical industry want you to keep taking them so they can make money off of you, so your doctor likely won't support you lowering your dosage if he can help it.

I've never heard of antidepressants helping in the long run.
Yeah antidepressants are like topical steroids. They're a short term patch. They shouldn't be relied on for any length of time. That rebound.
Research it TS and see if your meds can be weaned off. Probably should see a therapist while your brain is rebooting

Best if you compensate it with something else like increased exercise that make your brain produce more dopamine.

Definitely true but easier said than done when you're coming off them.
Week 2 without them was probably the lowest my motivation has ever been.

Something that your Doctor probably won't tell you:
It's normal for symptoms of withdrawal to be worse than when you decided to take Anti-Depressants in the first place.

Really wish that had been made more clear to me.

Weed yourself off!

Ill let myself out.

For real though. Clean up your diet too and try to get better sleep. Drink more water and add some microbes to your diet. This alone will make you feel much better.
