Colin Cowherd voiced his opinion on this, that they're basically trust fund kids that do well because of genes and thus don't have to put in the same effort as guards - often poor shooting, poor free throws and weak defense, but playing power ball in the paint gets them numbers.
I partly agree with this, but then the other side of the coin is every position demanding a certain skillset, which is based on build and talent. For example, a 7 footer isn't as agile as a 6 ft 3 guard, so they can't keep up on the perimeter as well. Or a point guard (Giannis and a couple others excluded) can't guard big guys well in the paint. And that low post play is a skill that's hard to master, on both ends.
Centers mid-range and even 3-ball shooting has become better, but it's not a norm a big guy shoots well, so Colin does have a point on effort.
