Honestly if Jiri/Alex ended in a NC or something stupid, up and down this card was a trainwreck. UFC has become way too comfortable shoe horning last minute fights like a normal thing. It's fine if UFC were like Pride, but most the fights we see are once every 6 months and a dedicated 2 month training camp to their opponent. It feels like every last minute fight doesn't count here despite results, you get people questioning how the short notice affected it.
 
The event was shit from the start, that's why Dana and Campbell were desperate to find a replacement because they couldn't sell it without a big name behind it. But thankfully the main event delivered and the co main was decent.

The rest of it was, with fair reasons, drizzling shit.
 
Problem is if the card was scrapped the fighters probably wouldn’t get paid and half of them just spent upwards of a few months of their lives fucking up their bodies in training for nothing
 
I liked most of the fights. MMA fans tend to just be entitled streamers.

the undercard was very good other than the arlovski fight.
 
Funny thread where both seemingly opposing views are 100% right. Watered down UFC cards that crumble at a slight brreze are more and more a problem, and have been for a long time.

But Alex vs Jiri 2 was not only a best case scenario for a fix, but easily a more relavant fight than Colin McCocaine and Chandler anyways.

the fights I didnt like

Smith/Dolidize (mostly smith's fault but something was up with him, he's not usually this bad)

FIli/Cub (Fili was making the fight suck with all the clinching)

Arlovski/Slovakian guy (worst fight on the card)

other than that, I was pretty much into everything.
 
feel bad for jiri. bro fought on short notice and got starched now he’ll probably never get another shot at the title

Does any casual watches the prelims? I did watch it because I'm a hardcore fan and yes, the prelims most of the time shine way better than the main card. But from a casual fan perspective, they only buy a ppv for the main event and main card. And it sucked besides the main events.

Unfortunately the UFC doesn't care about the prelims to promote them properly. And let's face it, unless it's a very important event they don't do that.

If i have the day free I always watch the prelims.

Rei Tsuruya/Carlos Hernandez like a modern day Sakuraba vs Carlos Newton.

and no one is talking about it!
 
The card was pretty cursed with all the fight changes. Still think they should’ve dropped the previous fight night and added it to 303. That one also had last minute cancellations too.

The UFC is not giving up a Vegas gate, regardless of the quality of the card.
 
Should Jiri's corner pull him out after the first?
Should UFC 303 be cancelled?
Can we make knockouts illegal?
Should we stop having MMA?
Can we just have all the fights at the APEX, if we indeed need to have any fights at all?
 
No I made a fair amount of money, although the card was kinda weak up until the co-main + main

It’s like being promised a michelin-star meal and they scrap together ramen, spam, and whatever is left in the cupboards.

Looked like trash, tasted like trash, was trash - sometimes it’s better to go hungry then eat garbage, but that’s a matter of perspective.

In hindsight, I would have actually preferred that than the card we got last night.
Despite the highlight even Poatan/Jiri was thoroughly underwhelming.

Hell the amount of spin on this card was embarrassing not legendary.
