Man the scene with Toranaga and Hiromatsu was so good. It didn't click for me that it was all a part of the plan until afterward. I was like, dude, Toranaga has lost his fucking mind. Wtf are you doin' man? But it was all a performance, along with his fake sickness. Brilliant!!! Crimson Sky motherfuckers lets goooooooooooo!!!

Shogun and the other books in the series are my Dad's favorite books. He's 77 now, but has read them numerous times over, since the late 70's. When we saw the trailer for this, and found out it IS based off of Clavell's series, we both were pumped. So far it seems like a really solid show and we both have very much enjoyed it so far.

My dad tried to get me to read them when i was like 9 or 10 and despite being a very good/fairly fast reader, it was just too long for me at that age lol. Still have not read the books to this day (i'm 34 now), but i probably should.

Then I reevaluated it. Am I engaged during the entire episode? The answer to that is yes. In fact, they fly by too quick.

So I think it's a good show.

Like I said previously, it's been a good couple of decades since I read the book, but man, it sure feels like they've taken a loooooot of liberties with the plot and characters. Still a good watch, though.

Tbh I really enjoyed the book but had zero incentive to watch a live action version. It had an intrigue narrative, not a plot.im feeling this on the 2nd episode again. It does look pretty good but the plot in general obviously dragged itself out and that's not my new age ADD talking.
