Shogun is still the 205 pound goat!

I'm all for this thread! Shogun LHW GOAT! He was always #2 under Jones until this BS popped up. Now Jones' entire career is up for question.

Shogun is number three best LHW ever. Jones and Liddell would be in front of him on my list. Cormier is climbing up there, especially if this crap with Jones is true.
Shogun beat Chuck for one, but when both were in their prime, Chuck was smashing wrestlers with little to no striking and Shogun was beating a wide range of styles including Rampage who smashed Chuck twice.

Still in awe today to think that Shogun out grappled Arona like he was a white belt. ARONA, the guy who beat Fedor in many eyes.

How? Shogun was consensus Top LHW of his era. Liddel can't be considered b/c he lost twice to rampage.
Chuck Liddell was one of the most feared strikers and champions of all time. Shogun was deadly in pride and beat Rampage, but it's not like Rampage is a Fedor or Anderson of MMA.

Plus Shogun sadly couldn't defend his belt. Chuck did.

You can make an argument for wanderlei and rampage over chuck. No such argument to be made against shogun

MMA math doesn't ever work guys.

The most feared in the UFC and then when he got into a pride tourney well you know.... in Rampage's words after he destroyed liddell

"I felt that he was a good fighter... but he's a UFC fighter. This is Pride"

at the end of the video

I didn't use MMAth moron, I'm using facts. Where's the MMAth for UFC 97 when Shogun knocked Chuck out? Or did you forget that they actually fought? Shogun has a better win record than Chuck on top of that.
So Shogun beating Chuck in a non title match makes his career better than Chuck's? Or Chuck struggling with Rampage in PRIDE makes his career less than Rampage Jackson's? Plus Rampage and Chuck were at the end of their prime and Rampage got the best of him. But that doesn't mean Rampage career is better than Liddel's. I mean, Rampage lost his strap to Forest Griffin in his second defense.

Chuck>Rampage

Exactly! If Jones had never shown up, nobody would have ever questioned Shogun's #1 status to begin with. He just stuck around way too long. But prime for prime, taking Jones' stupid ass out of the picture, Shogun absolutely Rick Rolls everyone at 205.

Sounds like you're in denial or just dumb as shit, or both. It had to be a title fight to mean anything? Lol!!!! Chuck had a shit ton of favorable matchups in his prime in the UFC. Jeremy Horn, Babalu, Randy, Tito, etc..... Shogun fought a WIDE range of styles and beat them all in his prime. Chuck got touched up before, during and after his prime.

Shogun is one of my favorite fighters but he was a ruthless striker who came to fight every night. He only tooled Rampage convincingly, and was in wars with Nog and Hendo. The Machida fights were decent too. Chuck Liddell was a feared champion that owned Tito Ortiz and Randy Couture twice. He still to this day is known as one of the most feared champs in the UFC. That list goes like GSP, Anderson, BJ, Aldo, and Jones.

But you realized that his prime was in the B leagues of the UFC right? All the top LHWs were in Pride. Liddell was suppose to face Wandy in the final round of a Pride tourney to end the debate on who was better. Pride or UFC. That was cut short when he lost to Jackson pretty damn convincingly.

To say he is above Shogun because of his UFC title in his era of dominance is like saying whoever is the LHW champion of bellator right now is the top LHW.

didn't arona hurt himself or hit his head or something during that takedown?

it doesn't take away from shogun winning but that probably wasn't everything arona would've had to show

Shogun was the one who was absolutely terrifying my friend. He wasn't just a striker like you seem to think. He's been a BJJ black belt under Nino Schembri since like fucking 2004. He ran a clinic on Ricardo Arona on the ground and had a hell of a scramble fest with Lil Nog on the ground.

He took Rampage down and even secured a mount for a brief moment. He had cardio for days and a pace nobody could keep up with and his striking was DEVASTATING. Chuck had heavy hands but so did Shogun. The difference maker was Shogun's kicks were much more dangerous.

You're a Chuck fanboy, I get it. That's cool. But be realistic, Shogun's overall career trumps Chuck's. He beat better fighters. Chuck made a career out of smashing guys he was favored to win against. Shogun beat all different styles, including Chuck himself. That's a mic drop in its own right.

How soon people forget.
