Shogun is possible LHW Goat you noobs

If you watch the two fights between those guys and somehow have less respect for either one afterwards, you are seriously fucking stupid.
Did i say anything about respect?

Sit down in a corner and let the adults discuss this matter ya fucking fruit boy. Or learn the english language and come back to discuss before throwing childish insults.

Shogun before his knees were shot is as good as it gets at LHW, and arguably the best LHW in the history of MMA. If you use dick pills, you are out of the discussion.

Yeah yeah yeah, he competed in PRIDE, so what? It doesn't make him a cheater nor did he ever pop ever.

Shogun was a special fighter. I see Shertards shitting on the great fighter, and it is what it is but, I mean, typical, but, it's so stupid.

You might bring up DC, but for one, DC spend a lot of portion of his career at heavyweight who fucking fought at 250+. I mean no one knew, Cormier included, if he could cut weight to LHW in the first place due to his kidney and all. Also, Shogun in his prime was a special fighter in his own right and Shogun isn't really Anderson when it comes to grappling either.

Shogun solved the Machida puzzle when he was looking untouchable. His decline is in a way a sad one, and not too different from some of the sad declines that we've seen with some of the legends, but Shogun in his prime with healthy knees > Cormier who can't defend body kicks and can't pass Anderson's guard.

War Shogun!

He is one of the most iconic LHWs ever. He's also perhaps the only athlete to have had both Pride and UFC gold around his waist, unless I'm forgetting somebody else. That's not huge, that's fucking legendary.

He's gone through several terrible injuries throughout his career, and I just hope that he retires at this point, because I wouldn't want him to join this group of legends whose latter part of their career has stretched out for too long without the kind of success that encapsulates their true greatness. Losing to Paul Craig is bad enough, time to call it quits. Regardless, Shogun leaves a legacy of pure respect, total aggressiveness in the ring but absolute class outside of it or after the bell. The guy is beloved by fans, by his teammates and by his opponents, and he has a beautiful family that he loves, and is a true inspiration.

Any noob who thinks this guy is a sub par LHW should watch some tape and get educated.

I'm as big a Shogun fan as anyone but does anyone really think he "wasn't" on gear during his pride tenure? Mind you pretty much everyone is Pride was supposed to be so I don't think it really matters much. He's never failed a drug test and he gets credit for that.

I think he's one of those fighters that have had so many injuries without ever getting back to 100%. The Shogun that beat Rampage in Pride was a beast.

What’s remarkable is had he won his last fight he would have fought for the title or title contender spot lol

It’s posts like the OP’s that made me realize it’s not Shogun that I hate.... it’s his fucking nut hugging fanbois.
I know right? No one could possibly hate Shogun...

GSP has BJ Penn & Anderson fanboys to contend with
Anderson has GSP fanboys to deal with
Fedor has "UFC only" n00bz to handle
Khabib has the remnants of the McGregor legions to elude

But Shogun doesn't have much of a rival fanbase... even back during the days of the Chute Boxe vs Brazilian Top Team, he wasn't usually the one targeted by the BTT kamikazes.
The thing is, my favorite fighter, Kazushi Sakuraba, used to be universally beloved, (except by a few hardcore Gracie extremist, but they're a dyin... scract that, a dead breed) . Then, perhaps because of too many "SaKu iS ThE GoAt§!§!!!!!" threads, there were some "Sakuraba is great, but overrated" threads that started popping up.

And as much as I love him (the only non-Hammer House related MMA tattoo is my beloved KS39 sick knuckle ink), he'd become overrated at that point, some people (many excited new fans eager to please their sempais) start saying insane stuff about him

I don't want Shogun to leave the "Not a single hater club: former population: Saku, Fedor, Chuck Liddell, Nog bros, Rua bros, Bas Rutten, Randy Couture"

Current pop: Shogun <DCrying>

He's also perhaps the only athlete to have had both Pride and UFC gold around his waist, unless I'm forgetting somebody else.

Shogun will never be a great as Jones, Rumble starches any version of Rua easily.

also it should be noted that just because you took a hit, does not mean you "cant defend kicks" nor did DC even want to pass the old man's guard. He was clearly taking it easy on this fossil.

So how can you credit DC soo much that he beat a fossil? Or took it easy on a fossil..

Not trying to take over thread but DC declined fighting mousasi and fought old fossil

Yea

His fans have been annoying for like 20 years and I are the reason I always root against the guy. Tool rush radiohead shogun rua....some things just seem to attract dbags like a magnet

Shogun was a beast but i feel like Hendo hurt his legacy in terms of greatness

really because he won the last round of that fight in a clear 10-8. the fight should have been a draw. also hendo was juiced to the gills for both fights. and the 2nd fight wasn't even close, till he got clobbered. lol.

It’s kinda absurd that people just assume with certainty one guy was on gear for a fight back then and one was clean.
