what form do you feel is the best jujitsu of these two and why

am going to start traing shingitai and was just curiouse to what you thought of this form of jujitsu and does anyone do this type of jusjitsu and were thanks.

Dude, 90% of the people on here don't even know what Shingitai Jujitsu is

The Shingitai website looks pretty legit actually.

I wouldn't worry too much about which art is better. Check it out and see if it's for you. If you're into mma you should be able to tell what's bullshit and what's not.

cool I like it the instructor is wery good at training his students from what ive seen and Im going to try it out Im pretty sure all jujitsu is the same with subtle differences.

no all jiu jitsu isnt the same. there are a lot of different kinds, im not sure why but the spellings are different also(jiu jitsu, jujitsu, jujutsu) Japanese jiu jitsu from my understanding has much less emphasis on ground grappling(bjj is mostly ground grappling) and a higher emphasis on traditional self defense and stuff like weapons. A lot of traditional stuff may be outdated as well, i think brazilian jiu jitsu is the most modern type of jiu jitsu. Your school will seem to be a lot like judo since the guy was a former judoka and stuff

Hey I train Shingitai Jiu Jitsu under Steve Scott. I think that you are probably training under one of his students...a police officer if my memory serves me correctly....and I am going to be honest with you, shingitai is legit. Learn as much as you can, you will have a healthy dose of judo/sambo which is important. You can learn alot if you dedicate yourself, and frankly the KC area doesn't have THAT much in the way of good structured BJJ. I train alot of no-gi bjj and I am a wrestler and I also train shingitai under Steve Scott.

Most people on this forum have never heard of Shingitai because it is relatively new, it was developed in the last 20-30 years by Coach Scott and notably his good friend John Saylor. They are trying to spread Shingitai and recently formed an association. If you get a BB under Steve, John Saylor, or one of their students you will DEFINITELY be a tough dude. So if you were hesitant about training this, do yourself a favor and start going because I promise you it is no McDojo---it is legit.

the founder has a solid judo background so it should be legitimate. I have never meet anyone who has heard of it, but I would think it would be good to check out. If there is another bjj school in the area.. check out both and make a decision.

I am going to be training with a guy named jake. he is a drug strike force officer out of platte city missouri if you know were that is. and his school is in st joseph missouri.

I think the training they do will be great for mma they teach alot of takedowns and grappling as well as stand up very well rounded I will try it out.

also I did check out another bjj school in the area and didnt feel like they were about training the students more in it for the quick buck. so ill go to this school and train for mma with them it will be good he doesnt do it for the money he does it for the training expereince.

I live right off I-29 behind the Barrywoods movie theaters, so I know where you are talking about. I have actually rolled with the guy that is your instructor. Like anything you learn, step back and look at it objectively and see how it can fit into your style. If you are lookin for MMA constantly be asking how to do techniques "no-gi" style because despite teh huge gi vs no-gi debate the bottom line is you have to know how to roll without the gi in mma. Taking the gi off is a pretty big difference, much faster, slippery, and no reliance on grabbing. I would suggest taking off the gi atleast half the time when you roll at the end of class. Keep training

Dude,

Type in "shingitai jujitsu" + "kc" into google and the first thing to pop up is Welcome Mat Judo Club. Gives the qualifications of the instructor at KC location (Steve Scott) and brief mention of Jake at St. Joseph location. Mentions also John Saylor with links to his site.

just "shingitai jujitsu" in google shows:

wikipedia page on John Saylor/SJJ

and

Yahoo group page Josh Hendricks from Shingitai who won the open division at the Arnolds this year.

Well I went to my first shingitai Jujitsu class last night and it was brutal felt real good after words im deffinently going to continue going to this school great partners and we work real hard. tons of cardio and no time to stop and think im going to win that fight in june for sure.

Viper, just for reference, before somebody else gets on ya about it, try to consolidate your thoughts into one post at a time, otherwise it looks like post-whorin' when you have 3 posts within 5 minutes and no replies in between them...
