SHFT/PWD 245: RATINGS...The Thread

Well at least you're not blaming "Neckbeards" for the record low ratings...

Neckbeards are going to watch WWE no matter what they do. Despite how much they bitch and complain they are mostly hypocrites who will do whatever they can to watch the next episode of RAW, besides they are such a minority they are at best 10% of WWE's audience.

Casuals bring in the most money as long as the product is good and when it gets boring they just ignore it and move on. No online-complaining for years, no suggestions how it could be better... they're just gone.

But since the casual-crowd got smaller and smaller the voices of the smarks got through and they influenced and dictated the booking with their antics.
From there it's was downward spiral because smark-"booking" is even more inconsistent than WWE-booking.

WWE is paying the price for years of SHIT. The product is much better this year but viewers are making WWE pay for the two years of Authority, Cena WINS, premature Reigns push, shitting on Bryan, shitting on everybody new, Big Show pushes, Mark Henry.

lol @ Bryan getting shit on, Bryan's neck shit on his career not WWE

Hopefully WWE doesn't decide that they need to go back their stale shit because the newer approach isn't working... BUT they have proof that a simple basic wrestling product like NXT works fantastically.

But it doesn't work financially and i'm not even sure it's one of their highest rated shows on the network.

Some people think if their favorite wrestlers win more that it will magically save the ratings issues. Looking at the belt holders outside of Cena (who's been booked as a midcarder for the majority of 2015) Seth Rollins (Indy Darling), Kevin Owens (Indy Darling), Charlotte (NXT Darling), Heel New Day (IWC Darling), mostly WWE has given the smarks what they want but they will contest "They aren't booked strong enough!!!!" You think if Rollins was 14-4 in the last month ratings would be 3.0? "They aren't putting on good matches!!!" Rollins and Owens haven't been putting on great matches the last few months? "He didn't beat Cena!!!!!" Do you think casuals give a fuck about Cena's win/loss record? "Oh I was going to watch RAW on Hulu but LOL Cena wins?"

NXT works as a borderline ROH shows (which is why neckbeards have taken over Full Sail) That doesn't mean booking it a weekly show with sponsors, production, and a weekly story to tell (aka Smackdown) will be the magic cure for WWE's issues.

Why are you saying it doesn't work financially? NXT Takeover was at the same venue as Summerslam and they have thousands of people at shows. The next big event is a fucking Wembley Arena (12,500)!

The "Takeover" shows that are at large venues draw because they are announced MONTHS in advance. The weekly NXT at full sail actually lose money for WWE. Making NXT a weekly show that travels the US and has sponsors would kill the value of the show and you would lose even more money paying the NXT roster like the main roster. Which is why I keep saying NXT is NOT a blueprint to run WWE.

The fuck?

So NXT is making a loss (because full sail has 500 seats) and that means its type of tight simple storylines and booking (outside of the control of 70 year old control freak madman) wouldn't work for the big show?

So I'm watching RAW on Hulu. I thought the match was supposed to be Braun/Harper vs. Ambrose. Now its a six man tag with Erik Rowen, Bray and Braun vs Shield. What did I miss? What happened to Harper in the match? I understand how Rollins got in it but where did Rowen and Bray come in? I'm lost.

NXT had a match between Alexa Bliss and Peyton Royce. God lord the asses on those girls.

I might be losing it, but yeah - when did Rowan come back?

I was working while watching the first half of Raw and didn't even realize he came out with Bray and Braun. I'm just watching the main event now.

Just read that Harper had to miss Raw for a family issue, so they brought Rowan back a little earlier than expected.

It's not just booking, you have to change the entire presentation of the show to make it work. Most NXT talent get paid on appearances or scale. Producing a weekly show that travels means your wages or have to go WAY up on a show that's already losing money. Travel expenses must be paid because the majority of the talent can't pay for their own talent, Productions costs for the show will go up and WWE already spends over a million dollars a week just to produce RAW and Smackdown in it's current format. You need Sponsors to help cover the costs and lots of them at that, that cuts into TV time and wrestling time.

There's alot more that goes into it, not just booking but the entire production and marketing of a show.

So, apparently, it was John Laurinitis (with the help of JR) who talked Brock into doing that infamous Shooting Star Press when he didn't want to do it.

The same John Laurinitis who talked Sid into the infamous Big Boot that caused his leg to explode.

Johnny Ace and people power.
