Sherdoggers Addicted To Tools

My dad never really taught me how to work with my hands. I have had a few jobs that required it but I wouldn't say I am very good. After I bought my house I started teaching myself how to do things and getting some tools. What tools would you guys say are absolute must haves?

WD-40, a vise grip, and a roll of duct tape.
Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone.

We have a local specialty wood supply store that used to have a monthly outdoor vintage tool sale that was fun. Not sure if they still do it but some of the old vintage hand tools were pretty awesome and all still in impeccable condition.

They have a great power tool section too but can be a bit on the pricey side.

Worth subscribing to their email list, if just to keep up on new products ...

Yeah, man. Maynard's lyrical and thematic genius knows no bounds. And the way Carey beats those drums with such juxtaposed aggression and patience is unrivaled.

Am I doin' it rite, guise?

Dewalt is overpriced.

Milwaukee is the best but even they have finally buckled to meeting Home Depots combo kit price points.

Cheap shoddy housings nowadays are making all tools f'n rubbish, flimsy pieces of shit.

Disposable society, nothing is built serviceable anymore.

I've an old Senco compressor and nail guns. 15+yrs old and still better than anything you can buy today.

Designed obseletion is a bitch.

My dad is a blacksmith and his dad was a pilot with a very in tuned engineering mind. He was literally building a plane in our hangar before his health went south on him. Our "garage" is actually a hangar with a ton of tools.

Plasma cutter
metal lathe
Multiple welders
wood lathe
an 8 foot high power hammer

Then all of your standard drill presses, chop saws, table saws, etc.

My dad can make some cool shit.

I however, am at very basic level when it comes to using tools. No where near as good as my dad.

With a username like yours, I would have to assume that you are equally capable of being as innovative and resourceful as our fathers are/were..;-)

It's just taken my stepdad a month to install wainscoting in his new extension/sun room. It'd have taken me half a day.

He's getting a pancake compressor & finish nail gun for Christmas

There ya go. Im sure he would have liked that before he started his sun room though lol.

I've a dewalt hole hawg I use for mixing thinset. Had it 10+ years now and it's been a great tool.

I have one too but I hesitate to drill holes with it. One nail and it twists your arm worse than frank mir would.

I dont think so tim. But I thought dewalt bought bostitch, stanley, porter cable and blackened pecker.

"Stanley black and decker" is the new name for the company. It now owns Dewalt, Stanley, Bostitch, Porter Cable and black and decker.

I am addicted to tools. I bought my house in 2017 and only now after doing all the work am i buying really nice tools. So far been running w.e corded tool is best and mikwakuee battery platform. At this point i find myself buy some best inclass tools but I do find myself babying them as well. Maybe cheap tools the best
