Strongman/Armwrestling Sherdog Strongman Discussion V2

So did Eddie land anything?
Mostly to the body but Thor kept out of his range most of the fight except to hit him with an effective jab followed with a decent overhand. Thor used his serious height advantage and Eddie's lack of a game plan to his best advantage. Thor knew that haymakers over and over and very little lateral movement would be Eddies biggest disadvantage.

EDIT: Almost every time Eddie tried to move inside Thor would just jam him with his jabs. He was like twice as fast as Eddie if not more.

I hope this is the end of it then

Yeah it was surprising so many Eddie Fans didn't realize how delusional he was. Thor clearly put more effort into this hiring guys that would help him improve and was adamant about getting into fight shape. Eddie overestimated himself thinking he could just land a haymaker , looked like a fucking Bum in there.

I genuinely believe he thought that being from Stoke-on-Trent meant that he knew how to fight.

Yeah don't ever come into the ring ever again unless you will actually put the work in to learn how to box.

Thor been fielding a chance at fighting an unnamed pro fighter seriously. He definitely seems interested but obviously he said he wants sometime to prepare though Eddie said he would love a rematch and come better prepared. Eddie also admitted cardio did him in and he could not get his wind back. Thor was way better prepared for the fight then Eddie. Thor also said about the offer is considerable much more then he made to fight Eddie. Freak show fights are big in Europe so I imagine it could be someone in the heavyweight class from Europe.

Larry really dislikes Eddie lol.

So has anyone else put together Eddie tearing his left bicep and the fact he didn't throw his left during the fight?

Clearly that injury really fucked things, the southpaw was an effort to overcome it, shifting from that to regular was as close to a one two as he could create. I expect he re injured it but had to push through.

It's a real shame we couldn't see a healthy match up but Thor looked tight. Would have liked to see Eddie commit to inside using the left to guard against uppercuts and using his right to the body then head. I get the feeling his lack of ability to throw the left in anger screwed up his options.

I've fought much more experienced shorter fighters who have adopted a similar strategy to deal with my height and range once the inside was taken away. So I don't blame Eddie for the strategy. I think the comments re coaching are not entirely unfair, but that's about it.

This is some funny stuff Devon commentary.

I think a lot of people dislike him but are afraid to say anything, strongmen particularly. He has a lot of say at Giants Live and WSM and is petty enough in my opinion to try and burn people with those 2 organizations if they talk bad about him.

Eddie left arm is F-Up no doubt he should have not taken the fight but the money was in his face as well as his crap talk. He was fighting with one arm in a sling. I don't like the guy but any good coach would have told him to wait till he was fully healed.

Err this will depress you lol.

Eddie ‘The Beast’ Hall and Hafthor ‘Thor’ Bjornsson used to be friends as they competed on the Strongman circuit. That changed in 2017 when Hafthor contested Eddie’s World's Strongest Man victory and their vicious conflict played out on social media.

With access to Eddie and his close family and friends, the film tells the story of a young man who struggled with mental health issues and found that extreme forms of exercise was his way of dealing with it. It will also explore what happens when you dedicate your life to a single cause and the effect that has on you and those closest to you.

The film is being directed by Olivia Isaacs as part of the BBC’s New Documentary Directors initiative which supports new directing talent to make their first film, housed with an independent production company. Olivia has been working with Mindhouse Productions where the Executive Producers are Barnaby Coughlin and Louis Theroux.

Nancy Strang, Creative Director of Development says: “It’s been a real privilege to be welcomed into Eddie’s life at this remarkable moment in his career and the journey to his historic showdown with Thor. Along with following his gruelling transformation from Strongman to Boxer our team have been given access to Eddie’s life at home, and to his family and loved ones, giving us a candid and fascinating insight into his personal life and the man behind the muscle. It’s a side of Eddie I don’t think many people will have seen before.”

Eddie Hall: The Beast and the Mountain (working title) 1x60 was commissioned for BBC Three and BBC iPlayer by Fiona Campbell, Controller, BBC Three and Clare Sillery, Head of Commissioning, Documentaries. It is being made by Mindhouse Productions where the Producer/ Director is Olivia Isaacs and the Executive Producers are Barnaby Coughlin and Louis Theroux. What are we at now, like 4 different documentaries about Eddie and 2017. Jesus Christ who is funding these projects and what is the motivation. He doesn’t even have a particularly interesting or inspiring story.
