I just built a gaming PC with a 290x ran Crysis 3 at full settings and my god I'm impressed. I sold my PS4 was tired of wasting money on games because I have no way to try them. With PC I just pirate everything first and then decide if I want to buy the game or not.
I hate that so basically what happens is then I see someone play the game if I like it I've now had the whole beginning of the game ruined for me (takes at least an hour or two to really know). On top of that watching someone play a game is not anywhere near the same as playing it for yourself and really knowing. Also if you have the option to actually try out a game yourself or watch someone play it which are you going to choose?
Titan Fall is a prime example I got an X1 just for titan fall because the game looked amazing to me. Every video I saw looked great. When I actually got the game it was boring. All I wanted to do was go and play BF4. The AI robots ruined the game for me but it was hard to that would happen by just watching a video.

I guess its in who you watch, the good channels only show 15-30 minutes of content if there is a story, and that usually never ruins it for me. My situation its a bit easier to watch something than download and play I guess :icon_chee

Yea I'd rather just play it first for a good one two hours and then make a decision. Not even joking I wasted $240 on my PS4 within a few months. All the games were highly praised and looked great but when I actually played them I didn't like them at all.
I am at a point where I really need a solid gaming laptop, on the road working a ton and have been traveling around the country for family obligations.
Anyone have any leads to get started shopping for one? A friend of mine picked up a MSI laptop bundled with a solid monitor and it seems like a pretty quality product.
Unless something else surfaces I am thinking of getting a MSI at this point.
Anyone else have a stock 290x? mines been acting all sorts of weird. Maybe it just needs to be dusted, but its lagging like a mother fucker. Even when i watch youtube it heats up like a torch an lags...

Just got one a few days ago. I haven't had any issues and I was playing various games hours on end. Have Three case fans one on the top, front, and back.
I guess this belongs here. I'm looking to buy a Mac to program ios. I've heard a Mac mini is the way to go. Any recommendations?
Would like to save some money ofc.

It's your wiring IMO. A lot of the airflow is getting blocked. Also, have you cleaned your fan filters recently? I have to do that like once every 3 months, or else it gets too gunked up with dog hair and dust.
So yesterday I tried saving some files to my external WD My Book I got a few years ago and it wouldn't let me save them, was getting error messages about "Delayed Write Failed". Opened crystal disk and sure enough I got errors on the drive, bad sectors and unrecoverable sectors too. Unplugged the drive from the computer and plugged it back in only to have windows not even recognize it. Had to remove it from its enclosure and pop it on my drive bay. Got a new WD My Passport Ultra 2 TB and currently transferring all my data onto the new drive. I'm glad its working, I'd have literally cried if the drive actually died. I got 500+ GB of music on the damn thing
Bios firmware version the motherboard ships with may not support the CPU.
Identify the bios version that makes your CPU compatible. On install load into the motherboards bios and see if the shipped version supports the CPU. If not, flash to the newer bios version available from your motherboards webpage.
I have been playing it a fair amount but noticed that it was not running quite as smooth as expected.
So I flip on the Afterburner and notice that I'm only turning 30FPS.
Now usually I would just assume I dont have enough juice to run the game but then I noticed my GPU is only running at like 40-60% and my temps are stable. Same with CPU, its only running like 30-40%.
Rig
Intel Core i5-4570 3.2GHz Quad-Core
ASRock H87M Pro4 Micro ATX LGA1150
G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB
Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" SSD
Western Digital 1tb HDD x 2
Corsair 500W ATX12V
Silverstone SG09B (Black) MicroATX Mini Tower
Windows 8.1 64-Bit
Toshiba 50" LED 1080p TV
Now I know my card is getting a little old and I can understand if it wont max out newer games. I just don't get why it doesnt seem to be trying. Usually on games where I see it struggling the usage stays near 100%. I don't recall it ever having a hard time with a game but still running at such a low percentage of use.
