Sherdog has a weird, irrational hatred for Belal

He's treated like comic relief even though he's on a huge win streak, reminds me of how Leon got treated too.

Leon became a meme to the casuals, but hard core fans always enjoyed his virtuoso style, even though he wasn't a finisher. The problem with Belal is that, in addition to being risk averse, he is, as @HHJ described him, a 'meat-and-potatoes' fighter - nothing he does is particularly impressive or pleasing to watch. Aside from winning, he doesn't check any of the boxes that matter, and that doesn't translate into a big fan base.

Irrational? Doesn't matter if he's the best fighter in the world, if no one wants to watch him fight because it's boring, it's in their right to complain or avoid watching. I'm glad I can fastforward through Belal fights, over in ~30 seconds and I can continue with most likely yet another terrible fight because that's how the UFC rolls nowadays.

You don't understand fighting if you think that working guys the way Colby does is not looking to finish. Also, Colby is much more active than Belal in every metric imaginable. Are you seriously trying to argue otherwise?

You do have a point about Belal being more deserving of a title shot than Colby. Colby has lost twice now and has been avoiding top contenders for years. Belal meanwhile has earned his shot. However, don't try to tell people how they should feel about Belal's boring ass style. The guy simply isn't fun to watch and does nothing spectacularly well.

Colby does what Belal does in a different package. Miss me with that BS about me not knowing what I'm watching. A take down artist who looks to finish is Khabib. There are differences. If not for him stumbling into finishing a Woodley looking for a way out, Colby would have no finishes in the past like 6 years.

Usman used to get shit too until he broke Colby's jaw. Again. I wonder why?

I think he's still more exciting than that. He stays on the feet. The risk is always there for you to get at him,but he still manages to win anyway,which is more impressive then Fitch pillow punching guys who cant get up.

Can't say I hate him but are you ever excited to see him fight? This fight was a great case in point, he fought the final 4 rounds safe in the knowledge Burns couldn't throw his left or grapple and coasted without ever really stepping on the gas. Now seeing as it was for a title shot you can understand why he'd play it safe but is anyone clamoring to see him fight Leon next? If he'd gone and finished Burns there'd be hype that might have seem him jump Colby for the next shot instead of having to wait. He earned his shot though so fair play, just might be a while before he gets it.

He is a solid fighter, but he is not overly exciting and he is not a good finisher, he's a decision machine, 95% of his wins are a decision in UFC.. he needs much more killer instinct. He is a solid fighter though and isn't great at anything but good at all the basics which is enough.
