So Atlus "accidentally" uploaded some trailers ahead of the Xbox Showcase

Video game industry analyst sees contentious digital-only for AAA games as norm ca. 2028. Says Mat Piscatella of Circana:

'Digital only AAA releases are here. Over the next 2 years this trend will accelerate, and by 2028 or so I think it'll be the norm for most Xbox and PS releases. Nintendo likely won't move as fast, but then again it's Nintendo and they're always full of surprises.'

Not surprising.

And honestly physical media is becoming more useless because although you have a disc you still have to download tens of gigabytes to make it playable on consoles.

Consoles are going the way of PC gaming.

Related, I'd be interested to see YoY data on collector editions and bundled collectibles/game collateral, seeing if there's any sales decline there.

In gaming and while anecdotal on my part, CEs sell out in a frenzy and draw demonstrable buzz. I was interested in paying hundreds of euro for an Elden Ring box from Bandai Namco, for example, but couldn't even get my hands on one.

I buy mostly digital myself nowadays despite in prior years being shier about or colder towards nonphysical media, but physical to (soon) up and disappear seems still premature to me.

Pragmata has been delayed indefinitely for the time being but a new trailer of ssorts was uploaded

Activision Blizzard sales healthy:

There's speculation that MS is trying to get the deal closed ASAP. In mid July the contracts between MS\ABK needs to be renewed for the merger agreement. ABK is in a much healthier place than it was when MS made the initial offer. There's no guarantees ABK doesn't decide to walk away from the deal unless MS offers a lot more money.

Bobby even alluded to this when he was talking about the consequences of the deal not going through.

Can they even close? Aside from the CMA debacle in the UK, did the FTC (or whatever body in the US gets the final call) even make its ruling yet on where it stands on the deal?

So from what I read the FTC stuff will go fairly quickly and should all be over and done with before the contract expires in mid July. This assumes everything goes Microsoft's way in court.

What I think MS is hoping is that once they shut down the FTC the CMA will be left alone as the last regulator blocking the deal and put further pressure on them to negotiate\settle with them. Most are thinking this is sort of a last push by MS to get this done before the contract needs to be renewed. This is all just pure speculation of course. No one really knows.

More of a broader game update in celebration of the cerebral but Rubik's Cube world record has been broken by Max Park. Max is aged 21 years. Respect:

Rockstar Co-Founder Dan Houser has announced his new company

Can't search for the Cyberpunk2077 thread, but this overhaul breakdown sounds great with a few drawbacks.

EA SPORTS is home to some of the most valuable properties in all of sports, with an incredible portfolio of IP, massive online communities with hundreds of millions of fans, and more global rights for more sports than anywhere else in interactive entertainment. Ubi CEO confidently pegging new chapter for the company on Star Wars game, mobile, and F2P focus:

and yet they announced that it will only be available on the Ubisoft store for PC. They’ve already released their other games on steam so all they will do now is handicap initial pc sales while pc gamers wait for the eventual steam release. I don’t understand the dumb moves this company makes. Then when they release their games on steam they leave out trophies. Man I hate the consolidation in this industry but I can’t stand the way Ubisoft is being managed right now.
