New studio on deck called Lighthouse Games; working on a AAA IP. Talent includes former Batman: Arkham series peeps (Rocksteady). Logo reminds me of HIM's heartagram, aaayyy:

EA restructuring:

Screengrabbed one follow-up for gaming industry stock picture; not in the industry myself but know these things regularly yo-yo:

I was supposed to go for work. Lame
Sorry to hear that. I've been to a few conventions – even Comic-Con one year – and they're so much fun + chicas; it's really easy to spend money on the dumbest things (like Zelda mugs) and then get home like, aaayyy.

Yeah, did Twitchcon last year, no Comic-Con yet since if I'm going it's usually for work. Which at least keeps me busy and not spending money haha.

Capcom stock is having a (well-deserved) moment:

As noted by games industy consultant Dr Serkan Toto, the company’s stock hit ¥4,865 ($36.42) on the Tokyo Stock Exchange earlier today and at the time of writing sits at the slightly lower ¥4,840.

This marks the highest share price in the history of the company, and the latest sign of continued growth in a company which, this time 10 years ago, had a share price of around ¥390 ($2.92).

I'm surprised they didn't get the shit boycotted out of them at GDC.
I’d imagine there’s some new info available, however small a development. Bloomberg’s no scrub.
Nothing really new tbh, but still interesting read. This part jumps out to me:
"While ESL Faceit isn’t yet profitable, Ward still has faith in the esports industry’s ability to make money by consolidating smaller players. "

In corporate speak that's pretty bad, an admission that the business isn't inherently going to be organically profitable and they are going to rely on cost cutting and pure market share to eventually make money. I just can't see a way esports is profitable under the current model.

Out of nowhere it appears a modern-day live-action Street Fighter film has been greenlit: *Paging Dr Van Damme

Elsewhere in gaming-movie crossovers, newly released Super Mario Bros. is off to rough start after initial unhappiness with Pratt voice casting for Mario (albeit praise for Always Sunny's Charlie Day as Mario's younger brother Luigi):

Phil Harrison, former boss of shuttered gaming platform Stadia, leaves Google. Full read from VGC here.

Phil Harrison, former boss of Google‘s now-defunct cloud-based gaming service Google Stadia, has reportedly left the company.

According to Business Insider, citing two Google employees with knowledge on the matter, the vice president departed the company in January at roughly the same that Google officially killed its long-suffering cloud service, which Harrison fronted.

Not that this matters, but IGN and Gamespot both gave the Mario movie 8/10. I wonder if this will be a case of gamer media liking the movie while traditional movie critic sources will say the movie is shit.

All I know is my kids really want to see it, which to me is kind of odd because they barely know who Mario even is, they don’t play Mario games. I’m the only one in the house that plays Mario games, lol.

For what it's worth IGN tends to be a more positive reviewer of movies compared to normal movie critics. For better or worse. I imagine Mario will be good with the kids, not sure if it has enough nods to the adults for everyone else.

Grapevine is open beta for highly anticipated Street Fighter 6 is actually this month.
