It's unfortunate if not ignominious that QA is one of the first departments/teams to be thinned when belts see tightening; to that end, most aren't in-house but contractors. Depending on the pub or dev in question, it sometimes feels warranted even to clap back with what QA? Hehe. Related, I've always suspected game scoring to get budget leftovers too largely, which is such a shame.

Plus its worse when the EA QA testers have effectively unknowingly trained up thier replacements

Wanted to share on upcoming IOI property for @NoSmilez, @method115 and other dawg hitmen:

Excerpt from IOI homepage:

It has now been a decade since we first imagined creating a new “World of Assassination” for our HITMAN games. Seven years ago, we launched that world in its infancy and nurtured it to grow to comprise three full games, exciting new game modes, many additional locations, and extra targets. And more importantly, it has allowed us to build a bond with our community that has supported us ever since. We have gone from a strong vision, through a lot of unforeseen events, to the ever-expanding world with freedom of approach in its core that we have today.

Now we are sharing with all of you, that we are embarking on a new adventure! One that expands our creativity, our capabilities, and in some sense our identity. We are building a new world, a new IP – an online fantasy RPG. A world and a game built from the core to entertain players and expand for many years to come. It feels familiar, yet at the same time IOI is going on a journey unlike any we have been on before.
IOI is also hiring right now across their Denmark, Sweden, and Spain offices if interested. Check out here.

Nice I love what they did with the new Hitman. I didn't like how they started it but they fixed their mistakes and made an incredible game. Hopefully what they learned from that they will bring to this game.

Telltale Games is still around? I don’t know why but I’m having a Mandela Effect moment that I thought they went out of business. It seems like it’s been a long ass time since I’d heard anything about them. I must have just assumed they were defunct.

its a "Different" Telltale Games, the original is now defunct and a company called LCG Entertainment bought the rights to the IPs and Branding in 2019 and created the new Telltale Games

Huh, so I wasn’t having a Mandela Effect moment at all then, they really did go bankrupt. I guess I just missed about the trademark being bought by a new owner. I really hate it when that happens. Every time another company tries to come along and market something under the name Atari I have to explain to people not to get excited or nostalgic because it’s just a trademark that’s been licensed, and that the real Atari went bankrupt almost 40 years ago and has absolutely nothing to do with project X or product Y.

They do have a support studio helping them made up of Ex original Telltale dev's and another studio from one of the co founders of the original is remastering some of the old Telltale games (not sure if the new Telltale is involved though)

Good news IMO. Matsuda was obsessed with NFTS and trying to get that shit into gaming. Don't know if Kiryu is any better, but if he is just not for that, it is a big improvement.

Agree. SE shaking things up. Many have wondered if their house needed upkeeping of late with all the studio shuffling and such. When I was a kid, it was just Square. Stupid Enix, messing everything up. /j

Ubi staff at Montpellier branch are facing burnout and wellness issues re: Beyond Good & Evil 2. More here. Elsewhere, Ubi has also sent an email out in update that they’re closing some of their distribution centres/offices to better adapt to the demands of gaming’s digital age. Ubi’s financial situation was apparently mentioned as one of a number of reasons behind the move.
