Serious question - Will Conor ever defend the 145 belt?

I'm doubtful. I'm betting he will vacate within the next 6 months.

He looked like a wraith the last time around and frankly any fighter that puts themselves through that is destined for misery later in life.
 
I don't think he will. It would be insanely hard to do it after 170 fight. Mad props to him if he does.
 
Lol, I know right? Everyone is talking this and that about this Conor dude and he hasn't even defended a belt yet. Forrest Griffin won the belt at LHW ffs and look how that turned out. It is beyond strange. It's become the Ultimate Fighting Circus.
 
Conor is never stepping foot on the scales at 145 lbs again if I had to guess.
 
No, I don't think so. That's why he wanted that LW title fight so soon after his FW title fight, because he doesn't plan on getting down to 145 again. He wants to have two belts at once, and the longer he waits without defending the FW belt, the closer he gets to losing it. He's too big now, so he needs to get the LW or WW belt ASAP because it's going to be hard to convince them to let him keep the FW belt locked up without defending it for too much longer. Luckily for him the division is not popular with casuals, though, so he may be able to buy himself another 6 or so months. He's gotta win the LW/WW belts within that timeframe, though, in order to fulfill his goal as a 2 weight champion. After that, he'll relinquish the FW belt.
 
I'm sure even Conor doesn't know the answer to this right now.

Last time he was asked about it he seemed to be more interested to go after the WW title than to defend his FW title.

It looks like he wants to test the water at different weight classes before he makes his decision.

If he didn't fare well at LW, I'd expect him to return to FW. I don't expect that though, so I'm betting on no
 
He should if he wants to be considered a true champion. Also I'm glad RDA injured his foot because I don't see Conor as deserving a shot at LW title when he hasn't even competed in that division in the UFC. If he doesn't defend featherweight belt at UFC 200 than he should be stripped of it or relinquish it so they can have 2 ppl that are willing to be true champions fight for the belt.
 
Wouldn't be surprised if the ufc were already setting up an interim belt. My money's on if Conor vacates 145 then Dana won't care bout that div anymore
 
I think only for an Aldo rematch, he is probably going to fight rda at 200 then lawler.
 
many people get it. Conor is too big and won't cut back to defend, unless Diaz beats him out of the LW belt contention. Only in this case he drops back to defend after Diaz. If he beats Diaz, a title shot is always next for him, at LW or WW, and he'll have a range of interesting match ups to sell. I'm also still unsure the UFC would let a fighter just hold two divisions, but even if they let him I don't think he'll want it. If Conor doesn't get a belt in two fights, he might return to 145 but probably to fight the interim champion. If he gets a streak of wins and another belt, he'll vacate 145.

False.

Aldo wanted to fight for the 155 belt, but the UFC said he'd have to vacate the 145 belt. Aldo refused to do that.

Conor doesn't have to vacate the 145 belt.

And it's clear the UFC wants Conor to fight for the 170 belt!

It's clear the UFC is giving a guy with no title defenses, opportunities they've never given to anyone before.
 
Depends if he loses or wins in LW or WW.
 
I think he will want too, but I'm not sure the UFC will let him, as I think he'll fight Robbie first at 200.
 
I think he just wants that accomplishment of holding two belts at the same time. My guess is that he'll vacate the FW belt if he wins the LW belt at UFC 200.
 
After he knocks out Diaz and RDA he will fight Lawler at 170. The FW belt means nothing, Conor is worth more than any one belt.
 
If he wins the 155 belt I think he will forfeit the 145 belt. I think its just insurance at this point in case he loses.
