If he didn't have any kind of criminal record that would preclude him being able to purchase a firearm given a background check then I have no problem with the fact he had an AK. It wouldn't have been a fully automatic AK unless it was illegally modified or he had went through the costly process of securing the ncessary paperwork and making the expensive purchase.

Rather than continuing to always focus on the tools used to attempt violence spend more time investigating the underlying reasons for the violence and maybe try to fucking solve that problem first. Why are kids wanting to shoot up other kids? Why the surge in politically motivated violence? Why the increase in destruction and violence resulting from "mostly peaecful" protesting?

Western society has become a powder keg. Banning or further restricting firearms isn't going to solve that problem. Banning or restricting sharp pointing things isn't going to solve the problem of random stabbing attacks. The reasons Western society is building pressure like an overheating boiler needs to be addressed cause violence is just going to increase and no amount of underreporting, misdirection or ignoring it is going to change that pressure continuing to build.

It's not leaving this country, it's the destination country that would prevent violent felons from entering. You can't leave the country with a trial pending, but in this guy's case, it would be on the destination country's end.

Being in Ukraine and being in the Ukrainian foreign legion are not the same thing. They are completely different statuses. Every person inside Ukraine is not a member of their foreign legion.
