It seems this case was more of the secret service doing their job. They had a team that would go a hole ahead of Trump to scout and that's who found him. It doesn't appear Trump got close to being shot this time.

Lol, Jack Smith was appointed 3 days after Trump announced he was running again, the NY case was announced 4 months later, and the Atlanta case was announced 4 months after that. There were no jail threats or "legal problems" in the first 77 years of his life, then suddenly he decided in his mid 70s to randomly go on a crime spree of novel legal theories at the exact time he's running against the corrupt political establishment.
