Sean Strickland makes Headlines on X

people/kids need consequences for actions. words and lectures aren't enough.

taking things away (snacks, dessert, tv time, games, etc) usually works better to curve behavior. Public embarrassment also works extremely well lol. Just tell a stranger in the store your kid is being bad with them right next to you... they'll change their tone quick.

My parents never laid a hand on me and are still together. Is it that normal that kids get smacked ?

Same my mom never hit us. Though my brother probably needed several hundred serious ass whopings....

She did take away all our shit (toys, cable, etc.), lock it away, and make us wear old cloths... Which to me really sucked...

Meh im black It's common in our household to get a few spankings here and there. There is a fine line between abuse and spankings...it's kinda hard to know what he's promoting.

My mom's favorite line growing up was give me your belt and don't u run boi

Yup. As a Ukrainian, we were lucky if it was only a smack. And I generally agree with Sean on this ( . . .broken clock right twice a day?). Not necessarily "smacks" (although I don't and didn't have a problem with that), but physical discipline can and does really work for a lot of people (and animals). Shouldn't be first approach, but speaking honestly, I ABSOLUTELY deserved the overwhelming majority of smackings etc., that I got. . . and the ones that I didn't deserve my brother/s who framed me absolutely did!

Mom's favorite line growing up was "Slalcho (dad's nickname), get the broom-stick!"

Better that, than getting molested or being turned trans.

Maybe if they slapped some sense into you, you wouldn't have turned out to be MAGA scum, homophobic and seething about trans people 24/7...
Sad!

Nah, not after 1970 it isn't. And the shift happened naturally as people started to question things more, understanding how they have lived in a hive mind.
So in general parents themselves decided to change, even before any laws caught up with it. It's just not fair to use your size and power to destroy any sense
of selfworth in a child. We all know the story of growing up before the 70's, how the youth had no connection with their sort of cold parents who seemed to have
started a family only due to some powertrip or whatever. Maybe miserable at work and at home they got to rule instead.

In modern times it's only those who never broke out of those old ways, where you did things just because witout any reflection, that have passed it on to their
own kids etc. It's always in the same broken families where it keeps happening now, generation after generation. But overall it's very unusual.

No, I live in canada now, most my family from jamrock is up here or in the states somewhere. I saw some of that on CNN yesterday Pure carnage :(
It was apparently one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded, I think the entire island was declared a disaster area. Glad you and your family are safe. I'm throwing some up for Jamaica, that was definitely not what they needed
