Media SEAN STRICKLAND DOES IT AGAIN

I definitely think Islam could do it. I don't think Khamzat wou ld accept that fight.
Yes he conveniently doesn't wish to fight his muslim brothers. He also conveniently doesn't wish to fight the first half of the year so he can starve himself. We should accept and normalize this kind of inactivity.

I'M impressed , it looked like he used the combo flurry that he learned from alex pereira versus izzy

"ladies and gentlemen....welcome to the strickland era"

DeSean felt right at home in H-Town

Very hard guy to outstrike and deal with … with the shit talk between him
And chimaev - sells a fight

Imavov so good and deserves it … but Sean DID beat him not too long ago .. so either works … just get Chimaev a fight asap

It all comes down to defending takedowns.

People don't realize this, but Chimaev is basically Ronda Rousey. If he runs into someone that can stop his takedowns and force him to stand and trade for multiple rounds, he's fucked.

Chimaev is basically Ronda Rousey? Lmfao

I don't even like the guy but sherbro... Damn.
What a bad take.

Fluffy is an idiot for playing toy soldier's game. Why no takedowns? He was truly awful today.
That's it - Sean is gatekeeper - if you win with him you are elite if not - you are not.
MW is horrendous shape. It has only 2 elite fighters - Khamzat and DDP - and if we are generous this one trick pony in Strickland but I don't consider him elite - he is just awkward for guys.

Shape of Middleweight :

Khamzat Chimaev - elite
1 Dricus Du Plessis - elite
2 Nassourdine Imavov - A level, derailed by Sean
3 Sean Strickland - A+ level - somewhere between A and elite
4 Anthony Hernandez - A level, derailed by Sean
5 Brendan Allen - Somewhere between A and B category.
6 Israel Adesanya - B+ level now, way past his prime.
7 Caio Borralho - A level, derailed.
8 Reinier de Ridder - hard to tell. Somewhere between A and B.
9 Robert Whittaker - past his prime. Nowadays B level
10 Jared Cannonier - past his prime. Nowadays around B or B-
11 Roman Dolidze - derailed. B level
12 Paulo Costa - past his prime, B level
13 Gregory Rodrigues - nothing special B/C
14 Joe Pyfer - nothing special B/C
15 Brunno Ferreira - nothing special B/C

And people are complaining about LHW and HW. When MW has 2 elite fighters, few good and rest is B level or worse.

Strickland is actually a bad match up for Chimaev

Pressure fighters like Chimaev & Hernandez who keep shooting takedowns will end up eating jabs and teeps from Strickland as evident on how Strickland destroyed Hernandez

Chimaev would be smart to avoid that match up
1 major differences between Chimaev and fluffy is there ability to cover distance and there natural physicality.Chimaev can affectively shoot from a distance fluffy wouldn't even attempt to. Chimaev can set up and secure TDs from outside striking range. Also his ability to secure the TD and control you is maybe the best we've ever seen outside of Khabib.

Fluffy had a hard time managing distance and for the majority of the fight, and when he did finally close the distance down and get hands on Strickland he got blasted

Sean's not a gatekeeper. He's a former champion and perennial contender.

I meant the gate to see who is elite and who is not.
And he was champion because he fought Izzy who showed up first time as past prime fighter.
He is contender in weak division.

I would like to thank all the know nothing MMA fans who wagered on Hernandez so I could make a nice score on Strickland getting +225. Easy Money. Got my action in this time. I was lazy and didn't place my wager on Gaethje vs. Pimblett the last time I saw a clearly better fighter as the underdog on the betting lines. There are levels in MMA. Hernandez had not yet proven he was elite. Strickland has been fighting the best of the best for years now and winning more often than not. Won the UFC MW belt not long ago in a one sided beat-down of Izzy who was a legendary MW champion. Beat Imavov who many consider to be the #1 MW contender at this time. Many other quality wins for Strickland. It was a no brainer easy money wager.

He arguably beat Dricus the 1st time, so by your logic there's only 2 elite MWs and 1 is arguable

I know, Rhonda was known for getting quick exciting finishes until she got exposed, not really a comparison to the Borz.
