“Francis, and I’ve said it since Day 1 since he started talking sh*t on the UFC on Twitter: It’s going to be the biggest mistake of his life,” O’Malley said on the “TimboSugarShow.” “Tyson Fury is not interested in Francis Ngannou anymore.

“He was interested in Francis when he was the UFC champ. He was the baddest motherf*cker in the world. Now he’s outside the UFC. Now it’s not as intriguing. Who is Francis? Francis is eventually going to be like – he hasn’t fought in two years. That fight is going to be not as interesting.”

“You do that because you want that payday,” O’Malley said. “You want that boxing payday, and that was in his head. It was in his manager’s head. That’s what I’m assuming. I’m guessing, obviously. I don’t f*cking know.

“I think he’s thinking he saw Conor do it, but Conor did it with the UFC. He didn’t do it by himself. The more days go on, the less intrigue, the less care we have for Francis to go to boxing.”

Yup nobody is buying an Ngannou ppv without the UFC promoting it.

I still think he can make some money but his window is closing.

He had what it takes to beat Jon but I don't think he's mentally strong enough.

In regards to MMA commentary, it's been a bad week. First, I found myself agreeing with something DC said. Now, I am completely agreeing with O'Malley.

Surprisingly intelligent and balanced view from suga.

I really hope Francis signs for something before window closes. Francis signing a big deal is great for other UFC top fighters when neg. their deals.

Francis needs to fight someone in the fringe top 20 in boxing and get a win over them. He needs to put himself out there. I think he can get a fight vs Wilder. If so, good for him. Wilder crushes him. Wilder will look like a master technician vs Ngannou in boxing. Let him get it out of his system then he can come back to the ufc.

Even a rainbow headed broken clock (analog) is right twice a day

He'd lose to any competent HW boxer. It's money fight or nothing.

Who would've thought the guy with the cotton candy hair makes the most sense.

Most of his takes are good. Objective and balanced.

He's a lot more versed and knowledgeable in a great array of topics than some would expect.

A lot of people get too caught up in the image

I think O'Malley is probably right about Fury not being interested anymore. Last interview Fury said he hopes Wilder knocks him out. Fury is notoriously a wild card personality wise.

O'Malley doesn't even follow boxing lol. Ngannou is being talked to by multiple promotions and multiple big name boxers. It most likely will be Wilder for his first boxing fight since Fury and Usyk fight is about to be finalized since Usyk put Fury in a corner by accepting the 30% split which Fury didn't think Usyk would do. Either way boxing community is actively talking about Ngannou and his potential boxing fight lol.

Do people not understand that the highest paid combat sport fighters are not in the UFC and they are not mma fighters? Why would it be considered a mistake if Ngannou can get a piece of that pie? People can't be upset that Ngannou is doing what's best for him and not what's best for the UFC. The brand of UFC will carry on with or without Ngannou. They got Jones as HW champ now so it works out for them even though Ngannou left to become a free agent.

Also Ngannou is the lineal UFC HW champion. That's how boxers and boxing promotions view him and how they will promote him for the fight.

Yes, but that a lot of people is only valid when you limit it to a particular sample set, specifically Sherdog forums that also get caught up in any sign of someone achieving success. That majority opinion here is also clearly contrary to the real world of MMA fans with O'Malley being one of the biggest crowd favorites at events. I think part of my fascination with this forum is the irony that it is by far the largest gathering of people that hate the UFC and its fighters.

Lol it's an interesting place in that regard for sure.

Humans are inherently very biased and group driven creatures. I think that carries a lot of these things. Very seldomly will people step outside of that box, comfort zone and leave emotionality at the door.

These polarizing figures intentionally stir the pot to build their brand and make more money. But it also leaves them open to criticism from people who can't see beyond the character.

But that's also what keeps the machine going is most not knowing those "industry secrets" as Chael puts it.

How do you know what O'Malley follows? Unlike Ngannou Sean has a professional boxing match.

You don't seem to understand the difference between public negotiation talk and reality or boxing in general. Boxing promoters are not known to be fair, generous people looking to do good deeds handing out tons of money to nice guys.

Nearly all of that boxing talk you are referring to is over a month old now and fading fast. While Francis is 36 years old and now on the outside looking in. He is not a great personality, a big name, or some great UFC legend. He had 1 title defense, is now most known for not fighting Jon Jones and no footage of him from UFC can be used to promote him to boxing fans so how in the world does this go? Great for him if he can pull it off but the possibility just looks to be getting worse and worse every single day.

The latest headline on ESPN is "Francis Ngannou focused on boxing, wishes he faced Jon Jones". That doesn't sound good.
