Media Sean Offered "Less Than 200k/200k" Declined Paulo Costa - UPDATE: Sean's Pay RESOLVED, Accepts Paulo Costa

He's easily 1 of the biggest draws right now, feels like a Nate Diaz situation brewing. Pulls off a huge upset(Conor/Izzy) to become a star but then loses their next fight(Conor 2/DDP) by somewhat controversial decision.

Now the UFC expect him to go back to his old salary as if his starpower vanished once he took an L.

The fight would look like the recent Whittaker-Costa fight. I mean Costa can't even beat an ancient Rockhold that convincingly in Luke's retirement fight. Sean outworks him and lands more shots for a clear UD. Costa has nothing but a very small puncher's chance.

It's like 13% now, the UFC profits go up every year (by a huge margin) while fighter pay stays virtually the same. Don't forget them greedy bastards took all the sponsors for themselves as well.
Yeah the UFC is scummy as fuck but we have all known this for a very long time, why do you think they all want to box Jake Paul.

Still all the fighters need to do is just band together and strike (even if it's only half the roster) and the UFC would cave pretty quickly.

Pretty crazy how easy you make it sound. We all know by now that it would take literally a miracle to get fighters to band together for any amount of time. They're all too worried about themselves individually and not the big picture.

Whats going to happen is Dana will now freeze Sean. Put him in the fridge. Let him chill for a while. Then when the money starts running out and the mortgage, car payments, motorcycle payments, holiday/ski trip expenses, girlfriend payments start adding up, Sean will come back to the table.

The UFC will then give him a payrise after hard negotiations, but lock him into another 5-7 fights for the remainder of his career.

The UFC wins again.

Well yeah, some are worth a lot more than others. That's why many people don't like unions in and out of MMA. Are we forgetting how heroic Francis was for sticking it to the man?

Yes and he's right. People underestimate Costa and the prep needed as well as how inconvenient that is to throw together. He should be paid more.

Especially if this is "old" and the offer was for UFC 301 in Brazil. Going all the way to Brazil...fans telling you to die... judges homecooking..

right, can't stand strickland or his fans. but dude's a catch and they are cucking him so bad with his pay. dana puts his stars in such uncomfortable positions, they have free reign on saying anything unless it has to do with pay and if they show any signs of public disagreement with it, he blacklists them. uncle tito was right all along.

Well at least people are talking about it now. The entire MMA fanbase ran with Dana's narrative that Tito was afraid to fight Chuck.

No?

The UFC pays out less than 15% of revenue to fighter pay and that includes travel, insurance, per diem, even the stupid Performance Institute.

Fans who weirdly boot lick the UFC don't think how many awesome fights we're missing because they are insanely cheap. Sean is a legit headliner, former world champion who dethroned one of the biggest names in the sport, and he's getting less than 200k to show.

That is such bad pay at this level its hard to describe to people who don't understand revenues. Fighter pay is one of their only actual COGS, its their product. The margins the UFC makes is astonishing and its by paying these guys peanuts.
10/10

Is he a star? Dont confuse being a FORMER champion, with being a Star, Demetrious Johnson holds the record for successful title defenses in the UFC, was he a star? No, Strickland isnt one either, only cause he fights at MW and DJ at FLW, neither guy was a star, Strickland has a astonishing 0 defenses record...was a huge underdog, and lost the belt on his following fight, says dumb/cringe/weird shit often, but not a star, the UFC lowballing everyone with no belt, and sometimes even with a belt is a different topic.
