News Sean O’ Malley: Humbled

He wasn’t losing but he showed a lack of composure and panicked when Vera was putting the pressure on him. I think more composed and experience fighter would’ve done a better job of hiding the injury and overcoming adversity. This fight exposed Sean’s lack of grit
Lack of grit? Did you watch the Andre S fight? The kid is for real and if he ocercomes the same exact injury I will have even more respect for him. He has earned his right to talk shit.

I bet there are a silly amount of Silva fans that say this win is legit, while still claiming the Weidman win is not

Silva broke his leg in half LOL and it was over on the spot. OMalley got kicked and couldn’t use his foot as a result, he continued to fight until Chito took the fight from him. Just a little difference

..... Lol

So the only difference was O'Malley didn't drop down holding his leg after it got injured.... The logic.

They were both done.. O'Malley was clearly done before vera did anything else to him...

He has a bright future as a streamer more so than a fighter.

He is basically a male PvZ in that fighting is just a platform for other things though he isn't very good yet but he seems a lot smarter than her about using that popularity which she let slip through her fingers.

Male PVZ is so apt for him.

Those elbows Vera threw would humble anyone imo, looked like he was swinging a mini sledge at Sean's forehead. That was fkn BRUTAL. War Just Bleed gods

Anderson Silva's leg/shin broke.

O'malley got foot drop......Just like Henry Cejudo did in his fight against DJ.....and Henry Cejudo made a comeback to win.

So no, O'malley still had a chance, a long shot but a chance, unlike a guy with a shin split in two lol

Chito was being cautious started pressuring him and ate up his leg with a single kick. Sean wasn't durable enough get dominated it was one strike and he got swiftly defeated.

That is very concerning.
his leg was already hurt before chito started getting any kind of pressure. it was the 2nd slip before anyone even copped it. i think hes just a hypejob bt better than chito. Not saying much

Lol. Silva’s shin was cut in half.

Well thank you bud... I appreciate that.

I'd retort this immediate knee jerk reaction though as "very unforgiving" & not a really fair assessment due to the fact that it was such a quirky & weird injury that caused him to lose. It's like you're saying I'm on the extreme of forgiveness, but lets not leave the opposite extreme out of the discussion either. It was a quirky & odd thing that lost him the fight. Before that he was knocking out the lesser competition, so are we just going to assume that it was all hype & he can't hold his own against higher level competition off of a quirky injury? I would counter your pov & say that too is excessive.

So I acknowledge the lesser competition, we've seen lots of people look like world beaterz until they get into the deep end... I just don't think anything was proved this weekend against O'Malley's ability to hang with the tops of the division off of that fight. I think the discussion is in need of more data. (ie... more fights against top competition.)

See my last post in this thread for a nice breakdown.
Fair enough

Lol. Silva’s shin was cut in half.
They were both injured badly. Silva's was obviously worse but Jesus Christ, be impartial.. He couldn't do anything with his foot.. He was not able to intelligently able to defend himself due the injury....

Fight was over. Had he dropped and held his foot, it would look the exact same.

Regardless of the injury, O’malley was fucked from his injury and it is the reason he lost the fight.

100%... He may have lost regardless but it doesn't take away from the W if in fact it was something Vera did to cause the injury.... Just like Weidman against Silva.

exactly. The foot issue was caused by Vera, that was a legit win and O'Mally can go to the back of the queue now. So much for that "superstar" wannabe-McGregor failure.

Oh and Herb Dean?? Again shows he is pretty corrupt and reads his UFC script every time. Deliberate early stoppage to protect a designated UFC 'Special' fighter once it was obvious he wasn't going to win. Protected and promoted just like Rousey, like Adesanya, like McGregor, like Ngannou.
- Even Rogan called the stoppage "interesting". (polite word for it, Rogan being somewhat diplomatic there).
I'd have liked it to go on another 5 seconds, take your Humble Medicine boy.

Never have I seen so much written about a fight where nothing much really happened.

He hit Suga with a normal leg kick that would typically never stop a fight. It was more or less a fluke that it did that nerve damage and from that point on the fight was basically over.

None of us have a clue how that fight would have went down over three rounds as hardly anything had happened. The strikes were like 7-5 at the time of the injury.

And then people speculating like they are MDs that he needs to drink more milk, eat more meat, move up a weight class, throw kicks differently, not throw kicks at all, be less tentative, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

The fight was a big nothing unless that injury hinders O'Malley going forward or the same thing happens again to him. Doesn't say squat about his fighting ability or Vera's. We know about as much about them as if the fight had never happened.
