News Sean O’ Malley: Humbled

Did anyone really think O'Malley was losing the fight before his leg gave out? This wasn't exactly the equivalent of Silva's loss in the second go round with Weidman.

this is the 2nd time his leg gave out, in between leg giving out he got suspended a bunch of times for PEDs. someone needs to tell him the best PED he can use right now is calcium on an IV drip.

I never did understand why I was expected to root for and worship O'Malley just for being a pot smoker. Even if I don't think weed is "evil" it still doesn't make any sense.

because it's trending. you ever notice how many people came out as trans after trans got the big OK from everyone? same shit happened with being gay. once being gay was ok and not grounds for getting your ass kicked or made fun of everyone became gay. same thing with weed smoking. once weed smoking got the big OK now everyone acts like they been weed heads for years.

the real motherfuckers were trans/gay/potheads before it was legal and socially acceptable.

His leg didnt give out, Chito struck a nerve & made it go limp. This has happened many times over the past few years, are you new to mma? Do you even trane UFC?

Maybe Chito is new to MMA too, since even he didn't think he hurt Sean by striking a nerve but by checking one of O'Malley's kicks.

Here's a brief video that goes over it.

Others have pointed this out as well.

Its uncommon but it seemed to occur as a result of a kick to the knee. As those videos point out it happened before to Cejudo gainst MM in their second fight, to Jamie Varner against James Krauss, and Michael Chandler against Brent Primus.

I doubt Vera intentionally tried for this given how rare it is but it does seem to have occurred as a result of his kick.

Unless O'Malley was lying to Olivi wouldn't it be obvious to him that a kick is what wrecked his leg? Why do you think he brought up his old foot fracture?

I don't think either guy really knew that's how it happened. Remember DC asked his corner if he got dropped when he clearly did? Fighters often wrongfully assess their performances, when they're in there they're not always aware of these details. The kick was a grazing kick that hit the right spot, I doubt O'Malley felt it much but it seems to have done the damage based on the footage.

Undefeated no more
12-1
He got baptized by Chito

Probably the best way to deal with this - come out and face the music.

Hard to keep up that bravado/persona after getting murked like that.

If he stays humble, I hope he does well.

I will wait on some conclusive evidence. Seems incredibly coincidental that the injury to the foot he suffered in 2018 against Soukhamthath, which looked identical, had nothing to do with his injury at 252.

They're not mutually exclusive explanations, once his peroneal nerve was hit and he started rolling his ankle he could've aggravated an existing injury. Perhaps that's why he never recovered while Cejudo did.
