Homemade sushi sounds and is ridiculous.
This reminds me of that fucked up movie The Dentist
Why?Homemade sushi sounds and is ridiculous.
Why?
It's pretty easy to make
There is more variety at a sushi restaurant. It would seem like homemade sushi would either be pretty wasteful, or boring because of the lack of options. Not to mention, I have a hard time believing that people take the time to make the rice the right way (I dont know how to do it, but have seen documentaries).
If people like the ritual of it, more power to them. I dont think it's a cuisine that suits itself for being made at home.

My friend gives me some ahi tuna all the time and my wife makes pretty good sushi rolls. Nothing really to it.
Not sure what goes into "sushi rice" but my chick just did fine. couldn't taste the difference actually. Regardless what actually makes sushi good is the fish so if you can get some why even go to a sushi place. Can't be any harder or more labor intensive then trying to make your own bbq.I dont make sushi, but you do realize that there is a process to make sushi rice that is way more labor intensive then putting it a pot and boiling it, right?
If it still tasted good how you make it, cool. Essentially my entire point is that sushi is better at restaurants than being made at home. It's not going to be of the same quality. Other cuisines I would argue are better if theyre being made at home or for gatherings.

@RR
I have been marinating and absorbing the essence of Naoya Inoue lately, truly a terrific young flesh from japan that is catching my eye...My interest grew even higher lately when i befriended a Japanese exchange student at a local music festival. He knew his boxing, soft spoken individual who is curious about the world. I welcomed him to my house to watch a few fights and eat some homemade sushi to indulge on the skills of the eastern entities. He really liked my marbled dinner table...
lmao, that comparison would only be true if I was getting frozen fish from a supermarket instead of fresh fish that wasn't recently caught. Everything else is exactly the same including the "sushi rice"I would argue that the sushi restaurant would be a greater experience-purely based on how it's prepared. You can think Im making a moot point, but let's take the example of Italian food.
I can go buy some pre-packaged noodles, a bottle of Ragu, and some frozen meatballs amd make that pretty quick. Technically, Im making (Americanized)Italian food, but the experience would be pretty shitty comparatively to a nice Italian meal. Let's say I have no experience with Italian food.
However, I have some amazing cooks in my family that are Italian. Im sure that their home cooked meals are better than most of the Italian restaurants in the area.
What you would be doing with sushi is more analagous to buying the Ragu and frozen meatballs to make Italian food.

Never said it wasn't made the same way. Just said not sure what goes into it.You just said that the rice wasnt made the same way?
Sushi rice isnt special, its just a different kind of rice. Sticky rice. More starch.
Very easy to make at home.
Inoue is sick. I don't know if he'll ever reach big-time status but he's certainly a rising star.
