We hoped around a blocked portion of the wall to get away from Tourists. We hiked for miles up and down mountains. I don't think people appreciate how mountainous a terrain the great wall traverses.

It's no joke. Not engineered very well, there are sections where it goes straight up. It's like climbing ladder.
