It was awesome to see Alves throwing fire again. Dude is a stud on the feet. Still say hes been the best striker at 170.

Ahh ok the edit makes more sense and gets to the crux of the situation. If Weidman is told that the strike is illegal and wants to take the five minutes that could be considered gamesmanship. However, the commentators said that Weidman told the doctor he couldn't continue while he was still under the impression that the strike was illegal. Once he found out that the strike was legal he was suddenly able to continue the fight.

If that is what happened then Weidman was pulling some bitch shit. But I don't actually know what Weidman said to the doctor. Based on what I watched I have to blame Weidman, but I could be wrong.

And that's another element to the shitshow. They say they don't use replay, yet Can Mirgliota's call in the cage was an illegal knee, he then went to the replay booth and changed the call to a legal knee

Again even if he told the docs (after being told it was illegal) that he couldn't continue, that's not a bitch move. It wasn't an eyepoke or a nutshot, it was a flush knee to the head that would've impacted him for at least the rest of the round and objectively lowered his chances of winning a fight that he'd already been convincingly winning to that point. So why risk losing a fight you were winning because you took an illegal shot? Fuck that take the win via DQ and offer a rematch, it would be nothing short of stupid to risk losing a high-stakes fight just because you want to prove something by fighting through an illegal significant strike

The knee didn't drop him, he sat down on the mat after Dan stepped in and seperated the fighters. He was lucid the entire time the shitshow was going on
 
my liver never recovered from Germany. well plus i have a kid now, but i've only been legit drunk twice since he's been born. have a few every now and then but i'm done the next day at this age. unless i'm in vegas or something, i'll just stay ming'd. it is recovery haha
 
Rumble pleading his coaches to come back in the cage and hear him "retire" was pretty hard to watch. That whole scene was weird

Sounds like you are advocating bitch shit to me. You say he wasn't dropped by the knee and he was lucid. You say that he was dominating, but did the right thing by trying to get the DQ.

If Weidman was honest about the knee not fazing him then he could have continued his "domination". I suspect that he felt that he was looking for an easy way out though

You can still be lucid yet adversely impacted from a serious strike. The knee did faze him but it didn't KO or TKO him. But it's not like damage that doesn't end a fight doesn't just disappear. There's a concept called cumulative damage incurred during a fight

I really don't get why anyone would pretend that if they were in Weidman's shoes they'd risk losing a yuge fight because they got blasted by an illegal knee
