savate vs japanese kickboxing

"There were 53 major conflicts in Europe. France was a belligerent in 49 of them. In 185 battles that France had fought over the last 800 years, their armies had won 132 times, lost 43 and drawn once only 10, giving the French army the best record in Europe. "

Yet the Germans pulled a panty raid to Paris 3 times in less than a century.

how do you feel about french canadians?

tell us how you really feel , dont hold back now.

Hmm dunno , theyre more likely to come off as racist. Maybe they're just unpleasant / reserved to anybody who doesn't speak French.
Too "insular" maybe is the right term ?
Can come off as fairly frigid and unfriendly.

Don't care for the constant bending over backwards while they still whine thing we do but that's a political thing not reflective on the average frenchy.

Have met a few nice ones though and biked across Thailand with one.

Guys please if you don't like the art you are within your right to say so but please don't detract from the thread without petty nationalist arguments.

Haha it's savatuse. Funny tho

You know what I found funny? The 1st pop up ad I had on that vid was "Learn To Speak English"

And I though it was Savateur. Oh well.

I currently train with a couple of ex Savate practitioners and while they kick well, they tend to lead with the toe for body kicks alot, i'm assuming due to the fact that Savate is done with shoes on and you aim to "toe poke" the liver and such.

I remember on Fight Quest one of the presenters was forever being dropped by liver kicks, was really nasty stuff.

Oh actually female is savatuese and male is savaturs.

I thought so.

There is a guy, used to fight in Strikeforce, Karl Amoussou. Don't know what he is up to nowadays.

Hasn't Cyril Diabate got a Savate background, too, or am I imagining that?

He's French so you never know. Chiek Kongo does tho.

Oddly enough, this thread delivers.

As for savate- good kicks, terrible outfits. I'm torn...

Karate :pajamas
Muay Thai: silk short shorts
Savate: ballerina tights
Mma: speedo or bike shorts with a logo on the ass.

I'd say we all got it pretty bad lol.:)

Fixed it

Oh n btw , show a lil more gratitude to the ol US .
It has it's faults but if it wasn't for them you'd reading Das Spiegel with your schnitzel , homeboy.

I'm American and I know my history considering I have a degree in it and I can say that if it wasn't for the French the English would've beaten us in our efforts to gain independence.

Meh , the French didn't help the south Africans , The Irish or the Indians either and they managed to get theirs.

The frenchies helped (mainly money) but not as much as The Last of The Mohicans would have you believe.
They got their money back and managed their main goal which was to stick it to London.

They also named their favorite food after them (french fries) !
What more do you want ?

Arguably this can be attributed to strength and rapidity of the German forces in WWII, the French army being largely conscript, the rise of socialism and pacifism. All of which are directly related to the massive losses on both sides during the stalemate of WWI. Essentially a political consequence rather than a reflection of the Frenchmans martial vigor :)

Essentially though your talking about a time period after the emergence and even the formalisation of savate.

That said, having done some research, savate seems to be a very effective street art but is rendered less effectual without the heavy shoes or boots it gains its name from. Root: sabot, a wooden shoe, ouch.

Savate de rue(of the street) sounds nasty, eye gouges, elbows, grappling, knees and headbutts all included. Also uses stick fighting.

I'd say, Savate de rue, for the street.. and Japanese Kickboxing for sport combat.

I actually find them to be much less cold and frigid than the English. It's just that many of them don't care for people who don't speak French.

Of course there's quite a range of warmness amongst the English as well e.g. a Newfoundlander vs. a person from Ontario.
