The reason why I am posting this fight is to disseminate (lol) some perspective on Alvarez. This fight was for the NABF welterweight title. I've never seen Alvarez small before, its pretty shocking. Although its an old fight of his, he is sharp in this fight. Which I think is surprising, I would assume younger fighters wouldnt have found their style so early on in their career. Herrera was looking for the kill, I couldnt help but to make the connection to Golovkin style. Herrera would cut off the ring, push Alvarez backward and Herrera would attack first. Herrera isnt the best at this strategy seeing how he got TKO'd. But this connection still stands although Alvarez was on the back foot, Alvarez was comfortable. He was okay being passive, in fact that is his strategy. Alvarez is an unorthodox counter puncher, he is the total extreme opposite of Golovkin. Golovkin searches and destroys (plain speaking) while Alvarez waits and baits. Alvarez can walk an opponent down, but thats only if he has overwhelmed them. Golovkin is alway pushing foward, courageously and intelligently. If this fight does happen this is a style match up, probably of a fucking high level. Two hard working boxers with different set of skills. With this video in mind I think the odds are starting to look even. What do you guys think?
