A relative told Saudi daily Al Watan: “The groom tried to get closer with her and more intimate, but he was shocked when she ignored him, not responding to his words and action.

“When he asked her if her friends were more important than he was, the bride answered that they were.”

I had a good laugh reading this, not all Saudi women are getting abused. It may shock western men but i would gather a big percentage of households have women who truly have the most power. A more dominant person will eventually win out no matter the culture they are from.

He could had raped her and there would had been zero problem.

I actually admire the guy.

But I'm not sure how he just figured this out before the wedding.

I would've thrown a rock n roll party in her honor.

Dont get me wrong i wouldnt want to be a woman in Saudi arabia but i think the outside world has a view that every woman in Saudi Arabia is getting a daily beating. All im saying is that 25% of the households have a power structure where women really rule as the man is more submissive. Ofcourse this is just a guess and i have no data supporting it. i've just seen traditional households where the man listens to the wife for guidance.

Sorry, I can't edit. I don't know how he didn't figure this out before the wedding.
Probably arranged marriage my friend, in arranged marriages the groom and bride dont really meet until the honeymoon night. He may have been a virgin and when he expected a special night the new wifey told him to f off as she needs to text

Just saw this on the book...i wonder if she's still alive?

Your right i am in no way stating that Saudi culture is a progressive culture but the interpersonal relationship between a man plus his wife is more personal. It can go beyond the laws and the culture of a nation. I feel that the western world has a view that all women in saudi arabia are under the foot of their husbands when in reality there are a lot of women who are just more crafty, cunning, and intelligent than their husbands.

I get you but hen maybe this thread should've been made in the Mayberry.

I'm not against this being a mayberry thread but the war room needs to see a example of a tough saudi woman. All that the war room knows about saudi women is how "lightly" or "violently" they get beaten by their husbands.

A woman choosing to text rather than have sex is the epitome of a strong woman in Saudi Arabia....Jesus fucking Christ that must be the sorriest attempt at empowering women I've ever read. It's not like you could have given us an article that, God forbid, told us a story about a woman legally driving in that garbage sand kingdom. But it's not surprising given that Saudi Arabia is a shithole country who literally sponsors 18th century religious ideology(Wahhabism/Salafism) as its official interpretation of the Koran.

Probably because his aunt and uncle kept her in her crib in the other room with the door locked? Plausible anyway.

I do believe it is the matriarchs who are the glue holding Islam together. It's like Stockholm syndrome. A lot of Muslim men love their moms over their wives.
