Sara McMann

She doesn't have the fighter's mentality. She may be great in a controlled sport like Olympic wrestling, but she doesn't have the brutality to kill someone in the cage.

Man that turn around or follow through or whatever it was after the kick was so lazy. Nunes made her pay for it.

wow, what a difference having a hypetrain full of ovary huggers makes to a thread...it seems pretty hater & troll free...while not the same style of fighter,i see many of the issues McMann has,Jojo Calderwood also has, none more so than needing to move on,as they both have talent, but they are regressing staying where they are.

Sucks to see her lose. She most definitely needs a better camp but it's probably too late.

Her decline puts Rondas success in perspective. I always put Rondas success down to her olympic background, but Sara is an Olympian that is no where near as successful. She's even been submitted by Shayna Baszler in a grappling match.

I know it's fun to pile on someone after they've lost and make assumptions, but Sara spent a significant time training outside of South Carolina this fight camp. She did a lot of BJJ training at Marcelo Garcia's in NYC. She has a personal striking coach there as well. Maybe it's not enough, or maybe Nunes was just a better fighter last night.

Supposedly the UFC doesn't like her - refused to do promotion for UFC 170, according to FRB.

Match her up with Zingano. If she loses, wouldn't be surprised if she is cut.

It's not fun, it's fact. She can't promote a fight to save a life, okay fine, she's one of these "I'll do the talking inside the octagon types" like Mighty Mouse, right? Wrong. Horrible head movement, sloppy punches and kicks, and the minute she gets cracked, she crumbles. While these other chicks are are at least developing some semblance of MMA game, she stays unevolved as a wrestler.

Can't talk shit, can't back up shit. She deserves to get piled on as much as possible. Go home and be a wrestling coach.

If you were the UFC, would you like a fighter who 1. doesn't want anything to do with promotion, 2. can't back shit up in her fights and 3. whines about pay?

Match her up against someone that would smash her face in, then cut her.

Seems like you're overlooking what Nunes accomplished last night. She used spacing effectively to stay outside of Sara's reach and TD'S. The same thing Holly Holm was criticized for in her last fight. The difference was Amanda attacked when there was an opening and showed a killer instinct. Which is something she's becoming adept at considering only R3 has more finishes in the WBW division.

Well, something has to change if she wants to move forward and be really successful, so I agree that it appears she needs a change of camps.

Have her fight Holly Holm, would be a good grappling test.

once Nunes stuffed the takedown Sara gave up

Whatever Nunes did does not change the facts on what McMann didn't do. It wasn't like McMann was putting on a great performance, only to be outclassed by TJ Dillashaw/Bang Ludwig wizardry. She showed no improvement in her game, no integration of striking and grappling, looked like Marina Shafir the second once the first punch landed, and talked shit about how the Miesha Ronda III fight doesn't make any sense.

Don't promote, can't fight, talk shit when she should STFU, and STFU when she should be talking to promote her fight. Outside of someone taking PEDs and committing crimes, she's got to be the worst employee of the UFC.

I agree... I think she needs to venture to another camp and learn some more. She needs a better gym to train with.. I don't think she goes much further without doing so.

great point. also, i think some of her problem is mental. she should go see some specialist.

Some fighters are gifted and can pick up new stuff like crazy like Ronda does.

Some fighters are hard workers that use grit and determination to gain ground albeit much slower and less refined the way Miesha does.

Some fighters like Sara are stuck. Sometimes they are too comfortable with their camp or their life situation and just become comfortable and complacent. They tend to be difficult to change because they don't see their short comings usually until it's way too late.

Doesn't she have a daughter that she's raising alone? Pretty difficult to make the call to up sticks and move halfway across the country with that to consider.

''OK Sara, you're a wrestler and your opponent is a striker who is dangerous in the 1st but seems to fade after that. What you're gonna do is stand in front of her and straight out the gate throw that spinning shit you learned with your striking coach on Skype last week coz that was fun! You got this!!''

I knew a long time ago Sara was never going to win a championship. When she fought Shayna in Invicta she was given the gift of a decision when she should've lost. Now she's been exposed as not being good at all. She turtles up when she gets punched in the face, she got out grappled by Tate. She now has 3 loses in 4 fights and shouldn't even be in the top 10 in any updated rankings. A change of camp can't fix the mental problem she has it's time to retire.
