Sanda vs Muay Thai

I would think training Sanshou would be a good thing for MMA. I think training Sanshou could also help in certain areas of MT. Reason being, when I train with MMA guys, specifically in the clinch, they tend to do some border line moves that are kind of a gray area, things I would never consider as I dont have the mindset for it. Basically they are able to think outside the (MT) box.

Sorry. Late reply was at work other day.
I think style vs style threads are foolish , besides a lot styles will be similar or look a like . every style has its plus and minus I think both styles fit mma just fine . Lack of good Sanda schools hurts Sanda . Plus China wants Sanda in the Olympics not UFC . The rule set most ppl see is to be as user friendly . When sport sanda started. They used mma gloves and had elbows and knees but that taken away. Seen as to violent . I see a lot of misconceptions of what is Sanda

were on the same page.

any style can beat any style

@spacetime this why ppl see you as a troll. I’m not trying to be jerk . But your compare to styles that look similar but are different. Besides every style has plus and minuses. Plus what you seen of sanda is a sport rule set . Like how you see mauy Thai . If you seen a sanda fighter trained in complete system, just like Mauy Thai fighter train in its non sport version. You’d see way different fighters . Rules vs no rules .
Like I said styles vs styles is foolish

I'm speaking from observation so don't quote me. But from what I've seen is that Sanda has typically faster movement(they can dart in and out faster) probably due to the stance, and Muay Thai has the more savage powerful kicks but a tad more stationery. I could be wrong though, but these are things that stick out to me.

You are correct, having just recently switched to a Muay Thai gym. Thai kicks are more powerful and more elbow and knees . Sanda has elbow and knees but not like the Thai do . I for see in time my sanda training and Muay Thai training working well together
