Law Same sex marriage under review?

He was married before and they did it on the cheap, separated and sensibly split assets. If only people could just be sensible about these things.
Fun fact: I met him at his wedding.
If only.........the problem is the second you hire a lawyer they pit you against your spouse in an adversarial situation. I despise divorce lawyers.

Thankfully he and his ex just didn't work out, it happens. She was a lot younger (not teenager younger), had never even been to the US let alone lived here, and was so out of her depth she got homesick and wanted to go back to the UK. There was some obvious resentment on his part being he had a dream job at NBC in NYC, was living the life and she was terribly homesick. Sad really that I went from being a guest at their wedding to seeing them maybe 18 months after back in the UK.

But yes, no money grabbing lawyers, it was just done via letters between lawyers. My parents' divorce was messy. He left my mum in a complete financial mess.

Ceremonies are just performative theatre, and it might be special to some people.

But getting married is very simple and straightforward. No church is necessary or required to have a legal marriage recognized by the State.

Kind of, remember that lady bringing the case against same-sex marriage worked for the State, denied a marriage license, and it's being litigated right now. She outright rejected the license citing her beliefs. Her lawyers are arguing that her beliefs should be allowed to be part of her Civic duties.

Hilarious part is she is on her 4th marriage.

Yeah in terms of difficulty getting married is a piece of cake.

Now, getting divorced is a whole complicated ordeal that's a nightmarish disaster.

I for one, embrace the fact the everyone now gets to enjoy the drama of marriage and divorce. And speaking of divorce rates...

Relax... not meant to be serious

She's a busy body homophobic Karen. It was part of her job, if you're going to get your knickers in a twist about your job find a new one.

Not uncommon... Even moving away state away can create a wedge

I almost got married with a woman from Utah in my late 20's. Moved to Vernal for a three year project and everything was great. Planned to get married.

My job moved me back to Denver and she spent 6 months with me... and she hated being away from her home, family and friends. She moved back. It hurt, but I didn't have hard feelings against her. Vernal is gorgeous, tucked away in the Unitah Mountains next to Dinosaur National Park.

20 years later, she's still there. And I moved for work a few more times before settling in Texas.

That's a failure and she should lose her job. Same sex marriages are legal in all 50 states and her duties are to follow the law.

I understand that you're not trying to be serious but I do think this is an issue specifically with how people of different genders are taught how to communicate.

I mean I'd move to the ends of the earth with him but I was 34 when we moved abroad, I knew who I was. It was too much of a curve for her, didn't help that lawyers told her she could work immediately which she couldn't. I imagine who I knew as a pretty strong young woman feeling completely out of her depth.

I'd be interested in reading a study about why divorce rates between Gay Men and Lesbian Woman are so drastically different
Ill see if I can use my university's digital library to dig something decent up. It's a very strange trend on the surface

Just to clarify, if the choice (as it often is) is the kid stays in the care system or is adopted by a same sex couple, which do you choose?
Stay in the care system until a heterosexual couple adopt him/her.

He said, “schools to insert gay porn into their libraries”
Please cite a single example of this

oh, so you're playing words games? and if i find inappropriate materials as examples you'll admit it or will you rationalize it?

Somebody else says that “they were putting gay porn in schools” and you are accusing me of playing word games for asking them to cite their source?

i will show you examples of sexually INAPPROPRIATE materials being added to children's libraries and you will 100% rationalize it as "but it's not gay porn", because i know you people, i've been arguing with leftists for a decade <lmao>
