there was bendo vs rustam khabilov, another dagestani wrestler. khabilov had some small success with his grappling but ended up being hurt on the feet and finished on the ground...

Yeah I wish Fedor fought Randy... He did fight Coleman and Randleman. I had forgotten about those

Yeah, same here concerning Randy. When He fought Coleman, I would argue, Coleman did not have the knees to handle the heavy takedown game that was his bread and butter. He was also pretty inactive at that point, irrc.

Sambo is not a mix of wrestling and judo, not the type of sambo that you associate with mixed martial artist at least. Combat Sambo is a mixed martial art type of sport, it is not a grappling sport.

Sports Sambo is a grappling sport that mixes wrestling and judo, and hardly any famous fighters have it as a background. Most famous samboist in MMA are from Combat Sambo.

I am not sure how high-level Tsarukyan's wrestling background is outside of MMA. He holds the title of master of sports in Freestyle Wrestling, but never won any European or World medals. Makhachev-Tsarukyan was a lot of fun, even if Tsarukyan was a short notice opponent.
