Ryan Hall wins CBJJ Mundial

Or the unpriviledged in the US, or Mexico, or Peru, or Japan, or Russia, or South Africa, or Guam, or Egypt, or Monroco, or Greece, or Norway, or Poland, or Iran, or India, or in a million other places around the world...
You didn't mention Romania on purpose, yeah? You... judo guy! :icon_twis

yeah i agree im sure there are alot of great guys who just cant afford to come all the way to the US.

Having BJJ events in America will promote the sport to a newer audience and bring more money to it, which will provide opportunities for Brazilian instructors to escape their sewer of a country in the future. Obviously, Brazilians are doing little to change their culture and support the rule of law, since the many parts of Brazil are shantytowns full of child murderers. The best bet for talented Brazilians is to have a boom of BJJ in America and then get imported to the US.

Wow, there is a lot of ignorance on this thread and most arguments are heavily influenced by an American perspective.

But this is by far the worst. Shame on you.

get real.

Primeiro Ryan Hall Lloyd Irvin

Segundo Chave Wheaton Alliance

Terceiro Vinicius Fernandez Rigan Mchado

Terceiro Jeremy Umphries Gracie Barra America

So are all three of those other guys american?

Congrats to Ryan he deserved it! He text messaged me friday day night all exicted. The kid is a phenom who works harder then anyone I know at perfecting his game.

Terere, whats your beef with Ryan? The kid is what BJJ should be all about, he's a great ambassador for the sport and one of the nicest most down to earth people you could ever meet.

+1. Ryan is a cool guy who never promoted himself or did anything to make anyone disrespect him except win competitions. Sure, the Lloyd hype machine is over the top, but the fact of the matter remains - Ryan Hall is currently one of the best purple belts in the world and technically, he's the best - he won the world championships, he is the current world champ. Ryan is really cool and down to earth from what Ive seen and doesnt deserve all this hate.

Terere, to you not realize that the difference between 1st and 3rd is not losing just once?

And the difference between 2nd and 3rd place is not how many times you lost but what position you lost the match?

Ryan probably had 6 matches in the Brazilieros and only lost 1 of them by 2 points. So that would make him 5-1 that day in Brazil. That seems pretty impressive to me regardless if he ends up with a 3rd/4th place medal.

That is true he should of been a brown belt at least 6 mos ago

Nah, definately wasn't brown in the gi yet. He deserves it now though. He's definately brown in both gi and no-gi. We should see a promotion soon.
