I think its about time fighters start talking back about how bad Joe's commentary has gotten lately

Well if Hall worked out with monkey shaped kettlebells he might be able to explode a little better

Is there an example of a colour commentator who is vastly superior to Joe Rogan? Rogan is not perfect, but he is not as terrible as some people say.

I thought it just means he needs to use a quick and powerful movement to escape from the position. Is he wrong or is Ryan Hall saying Rohan should be more specific?

pretty simple really, if a fighter explodes his limbs and other body parts will be scattered all over the cage. How are you going to hold guy down when he's in several pieces? Pretty basic fight strategy

like so...

Hall is my new least liked fighter. He reminds me of Jimmy Young sticking his head outside of the ropes when fighting Ali in the 1970's. I wish Maynard's corner was smart enough to tell him to stand near Hall and periodically kick his legs and take a massively boring decision. Hall's flopping when Maynard was close enough to punch shouldn't be tolerated in the scoring of his fights.

Running away from someone who is laying on the ground should not be tolerated in the scoring of his fights.

I wonder how many time Hall fell down while writing that.

Seems legit

I always assumed it means the fighter in the disadvantaged position needed to make a move quickly and powerfully enough to find themselves in a more advantageous position.

Well I definitely think one of Joe's issues is that he's the only color guy on the broadcasts. You need at least 2 and a PBP guy as well. I don't think any one commentator has enough insight to talk basically by himself for 7 hours.

This is the last dude in the world to be criticizing anyone

This. exploding out of a position is for sure a thing

I like Hall, but he can be a bit of a dick.
I get criticizing Joe for using vague and unspecific expressions like exploding out of something, but this whole snarky pretending not to understand what he means isn't a good look in my eyes.
I wonder if Hall has a touch of autism with his tourette's. He often seems to have an unusual train of thought and doesn't really show much emotion.

of course he doesn't know what that means, because his style of fighting he doesnt explode to get off the ground he just accepts it and even flops.
what joes saying is correct and its a common term used in grappling that requires you know to be pinned.
look at all the great fighters with tdd, Aldo for example he never accepts the takedown he explodes as soon as he touches.
ryan halls style doesn't involve getting up, so it doesn't surprise me he doesn't know.

That is how I took it.

It's a bit of both. In my experience to be successful it needs to be a synchronous move.

Edit: sorry for the double post. I guess my posts weren't showing up for some reason.

Exactly my thoughts. He's still dizzy from all that rolling around on the ground.

Takes a lot of effort to get pretentious over such a simple and easy to understand comment.

When you're stuck in side control, it's on you to create the opportunities to escape. If you just sit there and wait and the guy on top is content to not take any risks, you're losing. Explosive movements can break that pattern and force your opponent to react and adjust, which sometimes gives you a chance to get guard back or get back to your feet.

Hall is being the depressive annoying guy that he is. Great grappler, not a necessarily great personality.

Anyone who has wrestled or grappled knows exactly what Joe is saying. He means time your movement, then hit it. Since so much of MMA is weighted against being on bottom, its not like a JJ tournament where you can hang out on bottom for extended periods of time without losing the round.

Be a killer off your back with an active guard, or use a combination of timing and 'go' to escape or reverse.

Ryan Hall becoming hated by many Sherdoggers, I already liked him when he won the TUF house gig. Now I like him more because he seems to rustle so many jimmies for being mainly a Jits fighter.

We all have seen a guy lay there gassed like a dead fish. Everyone knows exactly what Rogan means by his comment and he's right.

there are some bad ones out there. Personally I like Mir, Cruz, Couture back in the day, Bas....

He does know stuff, and he can be quite good, but he can also be so biased and blind to anything other than his narrative that he constructs early on in a fight, or even previous to it. The Dober fight was a good example last night. Dober was getting fucking schooled by the jab, and Rogan legit noticed none of it until the Frogman landed a bigger left hand, "But one punch can change evrything!"

Is Ryan Hall simple? It obviously means using a quick/powerful move to escape from a position like @blopdak said.

You see it all the time when dudes rip themselves out of armbars/triangles or when they're being RNC'd and then explode their hips to spin into top position. Or a ton of other scenarios.

Hall just sounds salty why is he even butthurt when Joe was jacking him off that whole fight about how genius his strategy was?

Rogan means "explode your bowels" Because of smell of shit, will make your opponent back the fuck off. Even if they are in full mount. They will automatically stand up and get off of you.

Fucking hilarious dude!!! You had me in stitches. LMAO

Well I don't understand a lot of things that went on in that fight

Like why does a guy just flop to his back lifelessly as an attempt to get the fight to the ground, if you want to grapple then get in there and take the guy down don't be a pussy about it

To be fair to rogan,if he said you should roll for leg locks anytime someone comes close to you,he would be shit on like a mofo, but its a valid strategy for some

Douchey nitpicking.

He could comment on his often blatant bias, his unbridled enthusiasm when perceiving someone is rocked when they're not, or ejaculating over leg kicks; instead he just comes off like a twitchy prick.

Rogan's commentary is outstanding. It would suck without him.

Nobody says perfect every time they open their mouth. Ryan Hall is right but Rogan is still awesome.

100% agree with the part about just kicking Halls legs. Maynard should have just settled for kicking hall in the ass ad stomping his feet and took his way to an easy decision.

First the Guida fight, then Hall. Seems like some folks are avoiding Gray's hands as if they know he never washes them...

how else is one gonna win the mortal kombat tournament

Yea it seems pretty obvious. I'm no expert but this sounds like some BS from ryan. Not the smartest criticism of Rogan.

Isn't being snarky and autistic mutually exclusive?

Hall is being snarky.

But eventually everyone will be diagnosed with autism on Sherdog.

Is he right that it doesn't make sense? Wouldn't explode in this case simply mean to use a lot of energy and try to get into a better position.

Rogan does say some pretty ridiculous stuff some times but i don't think this qualifies.

Rogan was atrocious last night. Fucking hell, he talks an absolute load of shite. He thinks he knows everything.

Sounds like Ryna Hall should go to Joe's gym then and Joe can teach him. Straight grappling I think Joe pwns this scrub.

Ryan Hall's brain can't comprehend because he doesn't take Alpha Brain.
