International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V8

Given Ukraine literally has HIMARS, any build up of vehicles is a tactical blunder..

By the way, I've seen that video posted by multiple Russia affiliated accounts.. seems like propaganda to try to maintain morale.

HIMARS is a surgical solution, better to have a grand battery of grads for a massed target

Russians spent weeks dying and loads of ammo trying to take these areas. Now they lost them in a day.

"The letter addressed to the president by council deputies at Lomonosovsky Municipal District did not directly mention Putin's invasion of Ukraine, but did refer to how Russia had now become "feared and hated" while "aggression" has taken the country back to the "Cold War era."

"The rhetoric that you and your subordinates are using has been riddled with intolerance and aggression for a long time, which in the end effectively threw our country back into the Cold War era," the letter said.

"Russia has again begun to be feared and hated, we again threaten the whole world with nuclear weapons," it added. "We ask you to relieve yourself of your post due to the fact that your views, your management model are hopelessly outdated and hinder the development of Russia and its human potential."

Journalist and Russia watcher Julia Davis tweeted how the council had voted on the motion and produced the letter, which was also reported by the independent Russian-language news outlet The Insider.

"Criticism of Putin is rare, & while the two motions were little more than symbolic statements, they represented a remarkable public rebuke," Davis wrote.

Newsweek has contacted the Kremlin and Lomonosovsky Municipal District Council for comment."

Wow. Those council members need to make sure they're not standing near any high windows and to check their tea before they drink it from now on.

HIMARS is a surgical solution,

"Surgical solution"

No, HIMARS a flying Russian cigarette, makes ammo suddenly catch on fire which starts a chain reaction.

You know like that trope in old FPS where you shot a barrel with a gun and they exploded.

Russia's problem isn’t logistics,

It certainly is, their capability to carry out a blitzkrieg like they tried in the early days of a war is non-existant, so they resorted to massing artillery in the rearguard and outgunning their enemy from afar, that was kind of working in making slow gains until HIMARS entered the scene and Russian ammo depots went boom, at that point Russia could not simply mass artillery fire.

as evidenced by the thousands of shells they can fire a day. Its problem is that it doesn’t want to commit manpower or lose men. So now they are going to lose territory.

Much easier to fire thousands of shells that are being ferried in the safety of the backline than trying to keep supplying a forward fighting force that its making gains into enemy territory.

What is Russia going to do with mass mobilization? WW1 style mass human waves? that won't fly.

those councillors have big balls, let me be the first to say RIP...

First line of defence in Kharkiv front consisted of the Russian National Guard. That's the organisation that basically has Putin's back. It consists of 300k men and is relied to provide the large scale security in big cities. If Putin loses their loyalty because of deathtoll he could be toast. Just saying.

You can actually see the commander looking out of his hatch who is launched up and lands on the roof of the nearest house at 0:47.

I hope he is ok.

I hope he is too but...

<{you!}>

That could prove to be very problematic!

Massing artillery and outgunning the enemy is largely a function of logistics. Artillery units consume way more resources than infantry do. Attacking an enemy with highly advanced western weapons while being outnumbered at least 3 to 1 was, to put it lightly, not a good plan. The reason why Ukraine outnumbers Russia as badly as this is because they have mobilized their population. Russia needs more troops to bring about parity in numbers, at the very least, in order to have a chance of winning in the long run. Attacking Ukraine in the first place was stupid; attacking Ukraine in a half assed way because your officers are lying all the way down is shockingly stupid.

If they will remowe Putin in order to lull west in next trap....
Trap will be : we are good guys...let's remove sanctions etc. ..

A lot of top politicians in Russia are even more aggressive vs west than Putin...
Sadly.

Imagine what will happen if Duma will remove Putin and replace him with Medvedev, Patrushev, Morozov or someone like Dugin?
Or sorry western dreamers...with Navalny...who is dreaming to rule Chech Republic and Berlin ...
God help then...u will see...

If they will replace Putin with current Russia's Central Bank's chief or PM....
Then we might start to hope on something good...
