International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V8

Massing artillery and outgunning the enemy is largely a function of logistics.

Not when you can mobilize thousands of old soviet stocks via trains into the country, you don't need to be supplying dozens of different battle groups through an ever changing battlefield.

Artillery units consume way more resources than infantry do. Attacking an enemy with highly advanced western weapons while being outnumbered at least 3 to 1 was, to put it lightly, not a good plan.

Sure, but Russia had plenty of stock, on the other hand look at how badly the infantrymen are, the expired rations, troops complaining about lack of water, vehicles running out of gas etc, etc.

The reason why Ukraine outnumbers Russia as badly as this is because they have mobilized their population.

And they have the West helping them train and supply them with basic goods.

Russia was outnumbering Ukraine at the start of the war, the Kyiv offensive was massive and the only reason it failed wasn't because Ukraine superior numbers, but because of Russian shitty logistics, what has changed that would make Russia fare better with another 40 mile convoy?

Russia needs more troops to bring about parity in numbers, at the very least, in order to have a chance of winning in the long run.

Russia can't win in the long run, not anymore.

Attacking Ukraine in the first place was stupid; attacking Ukraine in a half assed way because your officers are lying all the way down is shockingly stupid.

They were planning for a 3 days war and ran out of supplies in the first month.

Things happening so fast right now in the North. Russian positions have been overrun and you have to wonder if they have taken the time and care to construct secondary lines of defenses - and where? Once a breakthrough happens, it can go on until it outruns supply lines or meets a new line of defense - did the Russian military even consider a scenario like we are seeing? And if not: how far can the Ukrainians push them over the next few days? Could they get rolled up like a carpet?

I posted a few weeks ago that the offense in the South might be some kind of feint because it felt so odd that it was publicized like that - I have to say, it feels pretty good to have a better handle on the situation than the entire Kremlin.

You can actually see the commander looking out of his hatch who is launched up and lands on the roof of the nearest house at 0:47.

I hope he is ok.

I don't think a human body could sustain such launch, i would expect the body to be blasted to pieces before that.

Mobilizing stocks of equipment is the bread and butter of logistics...

Russia gives certain troops shit gear and other troops high level stuff. Sort of like Waffen SS vs Volksgrenadiers in WW2. They decided to leave a huge percentage of their troops with decent gear at home waiting for god knows what while they put underequipped, low level guys on the front line. If Russia increased their total number of troops, maybe leadership would put more high level guys in.

Russia has never outnumbered the Ukrainians in this war overall. The reason why it failed is because it was totally misguided in the first place. I honestly don't know what they were thinking with that one.

It is looking that way. Ukrainians have the initiative. Putin and co need to go if Russia is to have a chance and I have a hard time imagining that happening.

They were planning for a 3 days war and ran out of supplies in the first month.
If they were genuinely out of supplies at that time, the collapse would have happened in more than just Kiev.

If Russia really cannot win in Ukraine - which seems increasingly likely, and not just based on the current push back from the Ukrainians - at what point do they withdraw, and how do they make it look?

Isn't it an imperative that they retain the Donbass and, even more importantly, Crimea?

Yet Ukraine have said they will cede absolutely no territory, and the idea of them offering any part of the Donbass to Russia as part of a truce seems like fantasy.

Gone are the days of a potentially neutral Ukraine, too, should Ukraine win.

Surely the war can only end with the removal of Putin in Russia - as now it's Russia that must make concessions, and not Ukraine?

Soldiers of the 4th Guards Brigade of the LPR, lions of our Orthodox jihad:
"There won't be anything like in the Kharkiv direction!"

Luhansk separatists (jihadists) are trying to scare ukrainians with words before the eventual clash.

From Rus Z channels in Telegram:

A number of sources report the accumulation of a large number of armored vehicles and manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of Vuhledar.

According to preliminary information, this grouping can go into a breakthrough this night. One of the main goals may be the route Donetsk - Mariupol.

Interesting but lets not get our hopes up he could be traveling to China or North Korea because he's crazy enough to do something horrible oh they missed spelled Russia. He realizes colder weather coming and his troops are not supporting the action anymore.

"
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia’s Defense Ministry announced Saturday that it was pulling back troops from two areas in Ukraine’s eastern Kharkiv region where a Ukrainian counteroffensive has made significant advances in the past week.

The news came after days of apparent advances by Ukraine south of Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city, in what could become the biggest battlefield success for Ukrainian forces since they thwarted a Russian attempt to seize the capital, Kyiv, at the start of the nearly seven-month war.

“The Russian army in these days is demonstrating the best that it can do — showing its back,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video released by his office Saturday night. “And, of course, it’s a good decision for them to run.”"

He talks about St Petersberg and another area leadership and joked that they will soon fall from a building.

Russian TV host posted video about how Ukraine is making progress. He should be careful he may fall from the broadcast outlet building. lol

Side note Ukraine hinted that Mark Milley and Lloyd Austin have been assisting with intelligence and logistical operation.

Rolling around Izium.
Why is Russia providing Ukraine with all this heavy equipment, do they not know that it only prolongs the war! It might even be sold to Albanian gangsters who might sell it to terrorists. Will Russia take responsibility if this Msta is used in a terror attack!?
