International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V8

so what do you guys think will be the end result of this war for russian and ukraine? will russia end up annexing land? russia taking over ukraine? stalemate war for several years? ukraine repealing russia back? russia dropping nukes?

a)It will end with LPR and DPR becoming their own countries within the territories of Luhansk and Donetsk Oblasts.

b)It will end with Russia taking at least the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts and part of the Kharkov Oblast. Possibly all of the Kharkov Oblasts. That is the main province whose fate is "up in the air". And it goes without saying the war will end with Russias claim on Crimea being solidified as Russia will have A a buffer seperating it from Ukraine and B a land bridge connecting it with LPR and DPR.

At this moment there is no fighting or Russian presence outside of the aformentioned regions except on the border of Mykolaiv which borders Kherson. There has not been since the initial attempt to quickly take Kiev. The wars outcome will be focused on these 5 provinces 6 if you count Crimea.

I don't blame Americans for the Iraq war. I blame the lying sacks that pushed it. You blame all Americans for it ?

If anything there's far more democracy in usa than Russia so you should be hating regular Americans far more than regular Russians...

I'm western as mate. I just don't think there's any moral high ground from my perspective. Nor will I attach the actions of mercenaries to regular people trying to go about their daily lives. Just like I won't blame a civilian for Iraq. I won't blame a Russian for the actions of their government.

I'm an American and while I obviously don't want my country destroyed if the regime collapsed along with others with comprable policies I would be overjoyed. I think I speak for many westerners as I do for people whose values don't line up with their nations in general.

They had with 5-6% voted for Zirinivsky in Russia's president election. Guy who costantly during decades advocated to carpet bomb Paris and Berlin.
They had supported Navalny, guy who is more crazy than Putin, Lukashenko and Patrushev & Medvedev and Morozov.
Navalny during long years multiple times had stated that he is scared cos East Germany and Czech Republic now isn't under Kremlin's control and this should be " corrected "....

Some regular folk ARE posting stuff in support of the genocide of Ukranians. I'm on VK (Russian copy of FB) and all of the groups I'm subscribed to are posting a lot of stuff related to the war in Ukraine. I read the comments sometimes. I've seen normal people (men and women, who look like you and I, smiling in photos, with children, etc) posting stuff similar to what that merc was saying. I need to start doing screen-grabs and create a huge collage of them one of these days.

I have no doubt there are some blood thirsty morons. ( could even be the majority. Fucked if i know.) I'm just not going to dehumanise 145 million people because of their ethnicity. I don't know why that upsets so many people honestly.

I agree 100%. I'm Ukrainian and have no issue with Russians (well, except for the ones who are involved in the war in any way or who are calling for the death of my people). Dehumanization is always bad, no matter who is behind it.

Difference between regualar civilian and army?

I will tell what stuff was difference between Waffen SS and regular army under Hitler.
Waffen SS never were used to guard camps or for executions....they were one from 5 SS branches and unlike other branches had not been required to be nazi party members...

Your argument for a moral high ground is pretty pointless not even sure why you keep bringing it up except to use it to excse any action you agree with.

The Russians have made it pretty clear who their enemies are and what their intentions are. I believe them and you are free to support them caues you lack moral high ground to oppose them.
