It make sense though. There's no pirates or belligerents for the navy to patrol for.

Their role is definitely combat support and transportation/logistics these days.

No one else is even building a real navy anymore. They just buy retired destroyers from the US. Russian navy is a joke, Chinese navy is a joke. I don't know if either of them can even make armor plates of the size required even today. That was always a huge problem for Russia in the past, they just couldn't make quality belt armor for their ships because you need massive plates and they didn't have the equipment or expertise. They could hardly manage doing it for their tanks, let alone a massive capitol ship.

Variant introduced in 1993, also known as Block IV, with new warhead and seeker. The new WDU-37/B warhead creates 12.800 wolfram fragments instead of the 25.000 steel fragments in the older WDU-21/B. The seeker has also been upgraded. It scans a wider frequency range and has a better signal processor. Software was later upgraded to Block V standard.

Somalia's coasts are " nice " for civil merchant fleet....sometimes....and personnel usually doesn't have even handguns.....
While AFAIK there might be enough with any fast small ship armoured with some 20-30 mm autocannon, some 12,7mm machine guns and maybe some stuff like short range missiles and grenade launchers like for 40X46 or 40X53 grenades....and night sights etc....

Modern ships are entirely steel forged. It is a piece of giant armor which requires similar if not even more complex level forging and welding.

The Arleigh Burke destroyers also have over 100 tons of Kevlar shielding, but the effectiveness and layout is classified.

But yeah, they don't have 14 inch steel belts like they used to.

These huge belts and anti torpedo belts had proved as relatively useless with largest and most expensive Japan's and Hitler's ships.....
Anyway from them was low ROI value....
 
Ships that had showed real more modern value:( of very large size ( and very expensive ) battleships armed with cannons.
Bismarck.
Tirpitz.
Yamato.
Musashi.

Russia had kept nuclear weapons in Kalinigrad and St Pete oblastj since 1960 ies and under Putin had upgraded their bunkers.

Old silos in Lituania were designed to aim London, Bristol and Paris for example...plus some NPPs in bad west and huge areas with intenese chemistry industry etc " not important " stuff...

The claim wasn't that that specific town had fallen so that is irrelevant, the fact they're pushing in the region casts doubt on the idea Russia is fucked down there. I used that guy as am example of a very pro Ukrainian guy admitting as much.

His second tweet doesn't disprove the first, just clarifies not talking about a certain town. A claim I never made btw.
