Germany is really in a heck of a bad position. Their economic model depended on cheap Russian energy. They can source energy elsewhere, but it will take a long time and be much, much more expensive. The price itself will make Germany not competitive, and major chemical concerns in Germany (BASF) have already begun shutting down plants and will be laying off workers. Germany is an export economy; this will deal it a very bad blow. At best, there will be political chaos in Germany; at worst, you might see populists come to power who attempt to reconcile with Russia.

That's of course bad news for our good friends like @Zinger , squeezed between the Germans and Russians yet again.
