For example if EU will tomorrow abolish emmision quotas for oil shale fired power plants...

Example to compare...
Private investors had invested ~11 bn to build new nuclear reactor in Finland.
It is most powerful nuclear reactor world ever had...
Designed power to gird is 1 600 000 kW...

If emmision quotas from oil shale fired power plants will be remowed...
Estonia is capable to provide a bit more than 3 200 000 kW for base load to gird...
2>1.

About crying peat is bad...there books will be written and sold...with time...

I have no doubt that they have more than enough old, clapped out kit to keep throwing it at Ukraine for years to come, but how many young Russians can they burn through before people start to question if ridding Ukraine of Nazi's is really worth it?

Will public support wane faster when Vlad dies in the not too distant future?
I think the question is how long can they keep the deception up? They are working hard to downplay the true number of deaths as well as the true reason for the operation. It will become harder and harder to keep the real truth from coming out to the Russian people.

They don't plan quitting on it soon!

what are the russian people going to do? No one's going to form a coup. The people of russia are not a concern to Putin and the oligarchs. They will just print out new polls saying he has 130% approval ratings.

Wont matter money is too good and everyones a volunteer except for unlucky kids who happen to be serving conscription

Btw mother was in saint pete last week and visited graveyard, lots of soldier graves and there were 2 soldier funerals going on.

Partially yeah however Russia is prepered and brainwashed 80 years in row.
~ 70% russia's inhabitants never had been in other countries and does use only russia's media in russian...

+ they and their parents and teachers who had taught their parents....are rised with history books approved by Joseph Stalin.

__
+ babushkas in St Pete and Moscow is thing ....at least Putin is concerned about...also voters in these 2 cities...
They in Kremlin does remember real cost very bad supplies and partying with a glance as nothing had happened elite....does matter in St. Pete .. 1917 th for a reason...

__
Therefore all these merchs from remote and poor areas...wagner....kadiroff ( who too is using lads mainly from remote areas not from Grozny for risky stuff ), comrades from LDPR and DPR etc ....

....
+ for Modova and Georgia they too does have ready stuff like for ukraine....

Things Russia is now doing in Luhansk oblastj.
1. of course a lot of locals now are refugees in areas not controlled by Russia...
2. From remaining locals some % they had locked in prisons and filtration camps...
Some % just kicked out from places where they had lived....

3. Delivered newspapers etc from Russia.
4. Launched propaganda.
5. Told that soon will sent teachers from Russia to work in schools to replace missing personnel.
6. Promised soon to deliver history books from Russia for local schools.

7. Are offering to get Russia's citizenship with easier rules than it is usually for such process...Promised fast track ...

8. Are talking that good thing might be to do referendum to incorporate LDPR in Russian Federation...

9. Pro russia oriented locals are advised to apply for local police and military service or at least to work in municipalities....

Are they sending also ppl from St Pete to Ukraine?
That's a bit surprising.

Sadly they aren't heroes...they are just victims in one big game...and it isn't about EU or NATO ( such reasons are tales for babushkas ).

Ukr never had been nor in EU nor NATO even after 10 years...
If Russia didn't had invaded ...

Now Russia had lost a lot.
If countries previously refusing to sell them even MANPADs.... after few months had gave these for free...

Also ofc it is hard to overestimate real long term ouctome from....conclusion that Russia isn't trustable commodities supplier...

For long term this will have more huge impact than all these " sanctions " and annoying talks from U.N and AI...

It is awful how ambitious ppl are doing useless wars with fake reasons and are using causal guys like ...cows in slaughtery...
Russian public ofc will buy their excuses and " reasons ".

I wonder what will happen when people from there start making noise and doing demonstrations like in the poor areas.

This is not the far east or Siberia where you can sweep everything under the rug and hide from the population since nobody cares about those people.

Like this.
For example even the same Kadirov better is using guys from remote area's rather than from Grozny....+ Grozny had been renoved and looks that all is done to portray " how cool is life under Kadirov in Grozny "...while about ppl in rural villages and small cities...nobody ever will care...

Come on you should know rus better.

No one will make noise, these are volunteers and likely from poor parts of saint pete(assuming they from saint pete)

And if someone does make noise god emperor will send omon to beat up everyone

Sure, the lads rush to the army to get their ticket out of poverty and snatch a washing machine or two along the way.

I'm thinking more about bystanders seeing the dead bodies piling up, graveyards getting busy and people understanding that the military operation perhaps isn't going as smoothly as advertised and perhaps asking questions.

I'm thinking more about wives, mothers and other bystanders seeing the dead bodies piling up, graveyards getting busy and people understanding that the military operation perhaps isn't going as smoothly as advertised.

How do you hide that from the eyes of the world so close to the capital?

No need to hide it really because nothing will happen

Media pr and brutality/torture wise 1st chechen war was worse and nothing happened, mothers ended up traveling to chechnya themselfs to recover corpses of dead kids (big respect btw)and yet in action against goverment nothing happened really except protests that got put down.

the only one i can think of that was really scary for the regime was the Kursk.
the mothers of those sailors were ready to kill putin themselves if he came among them. and he was just starting off. i think that was the biggest threat to his career. he almost didn't make it through that.

Like mentioned in this thread, you really really have to push russians to corner if you want them to go against goverment. Its just how just nation is wired

Last time it really happened was during revolution.

The last time Russia lost this many soldiers must have been in ww2. I'm not sure how long they can hide that but I guess their propaganda is more effective and widespread than most people thought.
