Lithuania has it too. They brought it back in 2015. We ended ours in 2007.

TL;DR version is that we don't need it because we have NATO. Maintaining conscription service became seen as waste of resources.

Why bother preparing our men for combat if millions of American troops will come and die for us as soon as Putin decides to light a fart in our direction.

We became a NATO member and neutered ourselves.
