International Russia/Ukraine Megathread V7

Russia's rhetoric is getting extremely old as well. We can't let a Nation with a leader like this continue to exist, its that simple. Which is exactly why we are doing what we are doing, by weakening Russia as much as possible without a direct conflict. Russia isn't going to use nukes, they can't. I would be willing to bet money China has told them as much behind close doors.

Lets hope the coup story is in fact real and there is some type of plan underway as we speak to take Putin out. I'm guessing as soon as Poots is out of the story there will be multiple power grabs and Russia will splinter into many smaller Country's. Lets also hope the US is currently trying to align with some of the people who will benefit/ take over from the vacuum when Poots is gone.

I hope you are right. I doubt Putin would let China boss them around either. Obviously I agree Putin is a mad man that needs to go. I just think that pushing him in a corner indirectly will lead to the same ends. If the neighboring countries all join the enemy I guess Putin will just take it…

I think if Putin was going to use a tact nuke ever, he would have used one on Mauripol by now. It would have sent an extremely clear message, would have most likely gotten Ukraine to surrender completely, and NATO MIGHT not have done anything. Now its too late, the West/NATO is too invested in Ukraine. Dropping a tactnuke on another Country is blasphemy and will never happen. I'm not entirely sure where we go from here if Putin isn't taken out though.

Even is Putin is taken out do you think the successor would accept the utter and biblical defeat of Russia not only as a nation but as a superpower? Is Russia willing to become the New France or Canada?

I think they would have to. Put all the blame on Putin and lay out how they plan to make Russia great again. I have no idea the sentiment of politicians in Russia but I don't see any other possibility. The only other option would be to mobilize their military and draft every able'd body into the war. Imagine if this is done and they STILL fail.

I think one thing we can say is a casualty of the invasion of Ukraine is any sort of left-wing government in the Ukrainian state for the foreseeable future. Not only were the left wing parties banned (the Communist Party was banned earlier in 2015) after this war began, a prominent negotiator who went to Belarus was publicly murdered for treason. Many dissidents have been rounded up and jailed, or worse. Control over local media and opposition parties has been firmly established. Ukraine now seems likely to survive this war, and even to do so with no territorial concessions. This result will surely bolster the nationalists.

Do we think that this nationalism will last? And will it be put to good use developing the country and solving its problems, or will we see more of the same corruption and graft, with most of the rebuilding funds going being siphoned away?

Personally, I don't think Putin is going to be removed in the very near future: he is a bad strategist abroad, but the one thing he does well is wield power at home. There are no obvious rivals in Russia who could claim his place with any kind of credibility, because he has removed them all. This is a weakness too: there aren't anyone in Russia who can tell him no and that's probably part of the reason we are in this mess.

The videos of him humiliating his spy chief on public tv really brought home how absolutist Russia has become.

No, any leader of Russia is going to keep an independent military and nuclear deterrent. Could there be warmer relations with the West? Absolutely. But much of the tension that exists is structural and that isn't going away.

I have intent eve just to see what for you is left/ right.
Most likely you will not be able to post even this.

You have little interest about politics, left/ right and even can't determine difference between socialism and communism and difference between social democracy and ...yeah.

Not alone that de facto " United Russia " despite talks is....FAR Right ... Like Zirinoski party...

.
Well yeah... If our enemies joined forces with Mexico and Canada and started building military bases by the border do you think we would sit there and do nothing? Finland and Sweden joining NATO is fucking stupid and illustrates the reason Russia invaded Ukraine in the first place. We need to think logically and not emotionally. Russia is being pushed into a corner.
@BIKES!

Repectfully, this is backwards. They are joining because of Russian aggression. Russia doesn't invade Ukraine they never join. Putin is creating what he claims to have feared in the first place.

Agreed Russia was the catalyst but we don't know for certain if it wasn't going to happen eventually. Obviously what is happening in Ukraine is spooking Finland and Sweden causing the rush to join NATO. Had Russia not invaded Ukraine we will never know if they would have stayed away from NATO or if we were simply months/years away. My point holds true that any superpower will not take their enemies setting up presence near their borders lightly. This latest move will show whether Russia's threats are real.

Well, no chances here that Ukraine might be in EU, not alone NATO during next years.
If Russia didn't had invaded.

Due to corruption and cleptocracy & crime risk alone.

Now I read up that we might die without wheat from India, sure we MUST ban some imports from India too to show how weak we are....
Or from Russia ....Belarus too.
China too might be good object for ban, while thanks to God due to inflation ppl will not have enough money withouth thinking to buy chinesse crap.
Lesser = better.
Annoying shit, I only hope that China is using for their metallurgy for nukes better stuff than for cheap mainstream shit....

I searched it a few weeks ago - no, party is not banned but if I remember it right communist ideology is illegal, like they are spreading some sort of hate (class hate, perhaps).

In Russia, I think among president candidates communists seen as a most pro-Western/American. I think right wingers/nationalist would prefer alliance with Iran/Palestine/North Korea/China than with Europe/US/Israel.
